Question 2

Round nose pliers do not line up defective

I was asked to answer this question so I will. NONE of my pliers in this set are threaded pliers. ALL are smooth. So start by makin sure the pliers belong with the set. I had to purchase threaded pliers separately.

If you mean the tips themselves don't line up then yes they would be faulty. However, slight imperfections won't affect their workability.  Often times pliers after much use will become slightly off over time. So if it's not much no biggie. If MUCH return them. Stuff happens.

In terms of threaded pliers typically they close completely with the threads, dips n grooves, meeting up. I'm n my 60s n been using tools like this since grade school and never one time has it made a difference whether they line up perfect or not. NEVER have I had problem or anything because the threads don't line up. Both construction with my father or in art or bead working wire work etc have threads not lining up caused a problem.

If the tool itself is off and the tips don't line up then THAT CAN cause a problem. Both in construction or arts/jewelry making. They have numerous PREMIUM TOOL makers that make the BEST and you also PAY PREMIUM prices 10xs as much.

I've been privileged to use others and worked in a bead shop and we had SELECT tools of such. I highlight SELECT because as a bead artist and wire worker I have used basic low end tools just like these and some my mother gave me and they lasted me most my life with no problem. There are certian SELECT tools my boss got to try like an $80 pair of flush cut nippers and I had 2 choice pairs of round nose and a super thin needle nose for my wire wrapping because shifting of the tips while in use is very common in lower end pliers, especially if you use heavier gage wire or half hard wire. I often use 2 round nose at the same time so I always have extras but 2 good round nose and a super fine needle nose really make life easier if you do wire wrapping and of good quality.

PREMUIM tools, I have had several friends that are Silver Smiths and DEFINATELY if you are doing Silver Smith work PREMIUM TOOLS ARE A MUST. A basic set of tools like this is a GREAT STARTER SET but put a good set of PREMIUM TOOLS at the TOP of your list. Look at this set as secondary and backup future tools but definately look at investing in a PREMIUM set if your looking at making a living n doing such full time.

If your needs are professional bead or wire working or a mix as I do a set like this can last you a life time if you take care of them. If your heavy into wire work end as I was then it's worth investing in some PREMIUM "SELECT" tools that fit your needs. I lost all I own and will be traveling also so with wire work my primary focus, this kit is PERFECT for my needs. I also purchased a double set of very sturdy threaded tools a needle nose and regular 2 for $6 at Family Dollar store of all places. Been using these for some time now and they're GREAT. I've had no problems and love having the little case. I have an extra round nose needle nose, side clipper a cuticle nipper and my 2 threaded tools and they all can be laid in the case with these n zipped shut. PERFECT for my needs.

So evaluate tools based on workability and function based on personal needs. $350 for a set of 4 tools when yur in yur 60s and only going to be making personal pieces and gifts n no longer in business is pretty senseless. Especially when I can get 10 tools for $30 because that leaves $320 for BEADS N CRYSTALS and theirin lies my passion.. I'd rather spend the money on beads than tools. If I was 20 again and had it to do over I'd STILL BUY the $30 tools for the same reason. If I changed to full time wire wrapping I'd consider investing in PREMIUM tools but wire wrapping was secondary in my bead working. If Silver Smith buy PREMUIM.
