2nd review
After reading the comments about this book by previous readers I wasn't sure if it was for me. However I quickly got into it and thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact I was loathe to put it down. P.F.Ford manages to make the characters very real. Although you know it's a light read and liberty's are taken, it's still remains readable. I look forward to the next one.

a great story
Another great story from a good author, brings reality to the world and some great lines of investigation. A must read for those who love detective stories

Old Bones,no brainer
Another great story line, even though from the start this was going to be a story on the darker side of the Slater character, missed Norms bigger involvement but Watson was easy to grow to like, hopefully the pair / trio might be involved again.

Very Readable
I have read the whole of this series which overall I have enjoyed and I looked forward to the next book being published. I did receive a copy of this book in advance from the author to read in advance.I have since bought my own copy. The plot is interesting and I found it hard to put the book down, it is well written and is a similar standard to all he other books in the series. It is a good read for a weekend or to take with you on holiday.. The plot is not ridiculous nor far fetched and Peter Ford has created some interesting characters for this novel.I hope you enjoy reading this book

Excellent
I am reading through the lot because they are so good with twists and turns. Every book from one to ten,the latter I have just finished, is just so difficult to put down and do the mundane jobs necessary. A great way to relax and forget everything else unless you have a dog that insists on its walkies. Enjoy.

The Reappearance Of The Disappeared
An interesting tale of a couple of skeletons being discovered in a ditch, which are found to be related by their DNA, yet the times of the deaths of the deceased persons raise many questions.I feel that there was a lack of plausibility that the disappearance of the mother and child could simply be ignored by the police, as is suggested, and that the husband of the woman and their infant son could be also be ignored in this matter on his return from his military duties abroad. Indeed, it is also implausible that there would be no contact between husband and wife, even if he was serving abroad up to the time of his discharge.Nonetheless, Mr Ford has created a readable tale with many twists and turns.

Good Read
Dave Slater is now a DI and taking his job more seriously, he has an eye for detail and wants desperately to solve this mystery. DS Brearley, his offsider is a brilliant lady always giving feedback, however there are more twists and turns that keeps your attention to the very last chapter. Excellent.

Dave Slater - always a great read!
I've read all the books in the Dave Slater Mystery series and I thoroughly enjoyed them all; Ford's writing gets better with every book. They are well written and always an engaging read. The series is excellent because the characters are mostly very well drawn and the people and environments change, just like they do in life. For instance, Norm's situation changed (I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't read the earlier books). I miss him being Dave's partner but I like Sam and I think the change was true to life and smartly written. I love all the character development and really enjoy all the main characters themselves. No one is a superhero - they seem very real. I am so glad to see Dave maturing finally (he's 40 after all) and making the most of his talents in his new role. This book was different than all the others for me, although I did enjoy it. There were two things that made me give this one 4 stars. 1) The plot was unusually convoluted. Normally a complex plot is welcome but at the end of the book I didn't care as I usually do when Dave and the team solve the case. There was a strange absence of a-ha that one would normally get when all is revealed. 2) I have no idea what is going on with Jenny. This character is written differently in every book she's in and Ford should get a better grip on it. Jenny in Book 1, Jenny in Book 9 and Jenny in Book 10 are so differently written that it's hard to believe, despite whatever her situation is, that's she's the same person in each one. And any version of her is not very clearly drawn and not very likable, so it's hard to understand what Dave ever sees in her. He is a very likable protagonist and I'll be waiting, like many others, for #11. Hopefully he finds real love with a decent well rounded person - his romance problems can't be an ongoing plot thread forever!
