The XTOOL IP508S is a good quality OBD2 scanner. It can do four different system diagnostic tests, nine hot reset services it has ten OBD2 Mode Tests and comes with free software updates for life.The device features a 2950mAh battery for long battery life and a 5" touch screen for simple and easy control. It reads and erases error codes, has Auto VIN functionality and can show ECU information.The data graphing mode is especially handy and it covers over 10,000 vehicles and models. It also features multi-language support which is great if you have mechanics from other countries.Price point is very fair and reasonable and overall it's an excellent product.

I drive a Mercedes B220 and in my search for a scanner I noted that not all manufacturers of scanners are compatible with a Mercedes and some that claimed to work had disappointed reviews that complaining that their machine didn't work with the B220!With this background I emailed XTOOL before I purchased the IP508S and was very pleased with their prompt reply confirming compatibility with both my vehicles. It didn't just stop there as they sent me a second email asking if there was a specific fault I wanted to diagnose and confirmed compatibility for that as well. plus I received a follow up email after purchase to ask if the scanner had performed as expected.The XTOOL itself arrived promptly a day before the estimated delivery date. The scanner looks well built and robust with sturdy cables that look and feel like they are designed to withstand the workshop environment. Setup was intuitive and only required the input of my WIFI password, email address and selection of the updates. In my enthusiasm I selected all updates but on reflection I could have saved on memory and just opted for the vehicle makes I encounter.My only disappointment is in the screen and text size but then at this price point it is on a par with its competitors. The screen itself is clear and the touch screen responsive to use and I was impressed with the amount of systems it scanned. I particularly liked the summery it produced of any fault codes it picked up along with a description of what the code actually means because a previous scanner I had used just gave the code number and I would have to search the web for an explanation, So by comparison the XTOOL saved a lot of time with its description of the fault.I was able to clear and reset my particular fault as anticipated but a feature I really liked is the ability to email myself a copy of the fault report directly from the scanner.Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and would recommend the XTOOL IP508Smy only reservation would be that if your budget would allow for it I would go for one with a larger screen. Having said that the bonus of being able to print out the report gives you an easy to read hard copy.

I'm very impressed with this IP508S diagnostic device from Xtool. I've used other tools from Topdon etc, but bang for buck this is by far the best in my opinion.🟢 Helped find the fault to allow an easy fix on a reoccurring airbag problem🟢 Loads of diagnostic and service options that simply aren't available on other brands at a similar price🟢 Has some bi-directional capabilities to test components🟢 Had lots of regular firmware updates🟢 Super easy to use and fast app - no lags🟢 Fast reply to support email questions🟡 I can't access the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) maintenence mode on a Ford Mondeo 2017. Emailed support and hoping for a future firmware upgrade🟡 Screen could be a little brighter🔴 None!

I’ve purchased a few tools in the past that have been okay but no of them coded injectors and this was the main reason for purchasing. I’m so glad I did not only did it code the injectors without a problem but many other things on my bmw and wile the other purchases are limited to bmw/mini this also read and clears the faults of a Fiat 500 and works on every car brand so far. It’s brilliant and very fast and cost effective. With free lifetime updates I can’t see how you could go wrong. If I had to pick at something it would be the screen could be bigger but if that’s an issue xtool sell other tools for a bit more money that have bigger screens and do even more amazing things. But if your looking for the most cost effective this is definitely the one.

I have experience with many OBD2 tools and this one is really a disaster. It malfunction all the time, it could not even release parking brake from service mode. It's completely useless product, don't waste your time and money. Shame for Xtools
