Beautifully made and I am certainly glad that bought it. However, the intended varying display is a response to changes in atmospheric humidity (moisture content), and because this changes very little in modern, centrally-heated homes it is likely that the reading will also change very little. Therefore , if the little man is out, he will stay out and the little woman will never come out. Simply resetting by turning the chimney will not help, merely moving the figures to a new fixed position.Therefore, regard this item as an attractive ornament rather than an accurate and responsive scientific instrument.

This is a wonderful piece .My parents had one and this one is so accurate. A good tip is to let it acclimatise first where it is positioned before actually setting it.
