Not fit for purpose
Bought this item for my elderly father who needs to wear compression stockings every day. This is useless, stretching the stocking to fit the donner takes considerable strenght and he just cannot do it on his own, thus defeating the purpose. Even if this is done by another person, its still a struggle to get the sock on fully. It may well be ok for lighter stocking, but for medical grade stockings it just DOES NOT WORK and the doctor showed him a more simple technique using a simple plastic shopping bag that worked wonderfully.

Dangerous if you have leg problems
Bought these for my daughter. Her last one lasted 2 years (although bought from elsewhere). The notches that hold on to the socks are too angular - which means they really do hold on to the sock tight. This means that more force is required for the sock to slip off the sock aid. Twice when used, my daughter gouged a layer of skin on the back of her calf - the top of the sock aid is quite tough and sharp. The only way to avoid this was to use the sock aid to put the tip of the sock on, then to bend down to push the top of the sock out of the notch to allow it to slip off. This is something she cannot do, and shouldn’t need to do as these are for disabled people to put socks on without bending down. My daughter has lymphadaema and is prone to cellulitis infections. The last one landed her in hospital with Sepsis. She uses compression stockings when outside - but soft socks when at home. This item is dangerous for her to use. I would expect better when making a product for disabled people. Very disappointed.

Disappointing purchase
Item arrived promptly and well packaged but both my husband and myself found the instructions for use not clear. I had bought the dressing aid for myself to help with putting on my compression stockings. I am not convinced that the dressing aid is right for this as they are difficult to fit on the frame and tend to slide off it before I get past my foot and ankle. Maybe with a little more practice it may improve the time and effort it takes to get the stockings on. Overall, a disappointment and already a piece of plastic has sheared off the mechanism keeping one of the side arms in the upright position.

CANNOT USE IT WITH COMPRESSION STOCKINGS!!
Be careful with this item, as it doesn’t keep my compression stockings in place to put my foot inside! It’s all very slippery. Useless for any of my compression socks & stocking.Hubby’s ordinary socks are a struggle also but he doesn’t have arthritic hands! Was told to get one of these by a nurse but it’s been a waste of money, as it’s one of the expensive ones on the market!!

So simple but great!
Diagnosed with arthritis last year and over the past year putting on my socks has got harder and harder.Saw this and kind of thought it might not really work but worth a try. When it arrived I doubted it even more as it's made with a piece of coated cardboard and a long piece of mesh material.BUT when I tried it I was amazed. My sock went on easily! I now use it every time I get dressed!

ok, good value
Item bought for my mother after hip opp to help put socks on. She says it works but it is a bit tricky with pressure socks she has to wear, also no help taking them off. My mum has found the long handle shoe horn helps with that though. There is a frame which I think would work better but its £22, this was much cheaper. Not tried frame but my mum does not regret the decision to get this. It might not be as easy as it could be but for the price, it is good value and does the job well enough. If the problem was going to be more long term then would be worth getting the long frame instead.

Works well.
This is the second one of these I have bought, one small problem if your feet are damp it does not slide that well and I eventually pulled the tapes through the aid never the less it works well I used it everyday and would buy another...the first one lasted a couple of years.

Don't waste your money
Bought this for my father to help him get his socks on unfortunately he has diabetes and bad veins on his leg this sock aid is any thing but an aid it's thin, sharp plastic edges are useless unless you have thin legs as it not very wide, the straps are very narrow and hard to grasp . The whole thing is just a cheap plastic piece of rubbish that caught on his vain which then popped open blood erupting everywhere!!!!
