LUCET - BRAIDING AID
An unusual present ideal for any budding craftist under 13 years of age, very basic which is what you would expect. The quality of the items are not fantastic, rough edges, poor quality stick but all are sortable with a bit of sandpaper and a new stick - I actually found it easier to use a crochet hook but then it wouldn't be "ancient" - not sure they had 3 ply wood back then so who is really bothered, it is the idea that is informative. It was interesting to use, I think item was overpriced but as said unusual and an interesting item for children especially if they are into history and crafting. Once you get the hang of it, very quickly - could be your answer to friends Christmas/Birthday presents and keep your children quiet!

The price tells a story
I wanted to try my hand at Lucet braiding, so thought I'd go cheap and cheerful in case it wasn't for me. Big mistake! It is cheap and cheerful in so much as the piece is rough, the tool to lift the stitches is fragile and will snap if not carefully used and the yarn supplied is a poor-quality acrylic. So, you're transferring a loop of sticky acrylic yarn with a bendy, ready-to-snap wooden barbecue-type skewer, over an unfinished piece of rough wood. I will buy a better one. The traditional concept is great, but the product could be manufactured with much more care.

Bit disappointed to be honest
Instructions that come with it are not very clear and to use it we had to go online and search you tube video.Cord/wool provided is quite low quality too....Only a stocking filler. ...not a serious lucet kit.

Clear instructions
Was able to get knitting straight away, however the half piece of kebab stick to use as a picker was a bit of a disappointment, my lucet also has a bit of a rough spot which catches the yarn sometimes but I am going to smooth it off with a bit of fine sandpaper.

Not Impressed
I bought this Lucet as I wanted to do some crafting and had only just learned about the Lucet so thought I would have a 'bash' with it. When it arrived I was very disappointed. Its very thin and made from cheap and nasty wood which doesn't feel strong enough for the job. It does 'work' but not with thicker wool or cord (not without a struggle anyway). Since getting this one I have found another site online which does the stronger plastic ones and they are cheaper than I paid for this! I would not recommend this product to any crafter out there ... go and search the internet and find a better one!

this works ok but your much better with a plastic one to learn on. the wool etc sticks to the wood.

Easy to use and used it right away
Exactly what I thought it would be. Easy to use and used it right away. Loved the information with it. I didn't know the history of it.Would use this seller again.

Ancient Lucet
The lucet arrived as promised and contained lucet, wool, bodkin and written instructions which were easy to understand. I have made a spectacle chain, a bracelet and several lengths of braid for use in other projects. The pattern on one side was very useful when trying to remember which side you should start the braid.Very pleased with the service and the lucet.
