A good way to create custom cables
This junction box is ideal if you need to repair a sliced power cord safely or wish to construct a custom power cable that you can't buy or is difficult to find. The plastic is hard wearing and does not feel like it will crack if accidentally dropped or stepped on. The cable strain relief is reversible, accommodating thick (13A) mains flex as well as thinner (unearthed 7A) mains flex.It is much safer and easier to use a junction box like this to join mains cables, instead of electrical tape. However this product is not waterproof so I do not recommend using it to repair or extend cables used with garden equipment!I needed a Japanese AC power cord (ungrounded 2 pin) for my ultrabook power supply, which uses a cloverleaf (C5) power input - however you can't buy a cloverleaf to Japanese AC mains plug lead as they are ungrounded and would be unsafe for a device that requires a ground connection. My ultrabook does not require a ground connection. I used this junction box to create a working power cord out of a Japanese figure 8 mains cable and a UK cloverleaf mains cable. Problem solved... no need to use a bulky UK travel adaptor which is not a good idea for long term / permanent use.

Ideal for extending electric cables
Knew what I wanted, but could not find one, even at B&Q. Searched Amazon and the SMJ was exactly what I was looking for.Enables a safe line connection for a very small cost.

Great service and I was very pleased with quality of this product which was delivered promptly and at a very affordable price.The connector was about 33% larger than I expected, I guess this is due to the 13amp rating.

A very strong and well made product
A very strong and well made product. Excellent cable grips to secure the entry and exit cables and a strong robust terminal block to anchor the wires to. As long as the grips are tightened correctly I would say the cable is almost as strong as if there were no connector block at all.

Worked perfectly to connect a tv power cable that was hard wired into the box of the tv that needed to go through the wall.

Saved me pounds
I managed to chop the cable of my hedge trimmer - this made it possible to safely rejoin the cable saving me a lot of aggro.It's a bit fiddly getting the cables connected if you have big fingers but saves an expensive repair job.it's made from a tough durable rubber / plastic material so shouldn't break easily.
