I use this on 4 songs in my electric bands current set and find it really useful. It has a good range of synths although I tend to use only two. I find the sensitivity of it does mean some adjustments to your playing style. It didn't work so well on acoustic guitar. Overall a really good if limited synth pedal.

Excellent post sales experience
Had an issue with the pedal but received excellent customer service from John at Electro-Harmonix. The string synth is my go to setting.

Great classic synth sounds
I had tried the Boss SYB-5 pedal but was very disappointed (11 different settings of what appears to be the same sounds) and I really wanted to incorporate a synth pedal into my bass pedalboard.I have to be honest and say I wasn't even thinking about this type of pedal even though I'd marvelled at the B9, C9 and Mel9 as I didn't consider it to be useful for bass but when it came up on the suggestions I thought "Why not?"I'm certainly glad I did. My keyboard player straight away could tell some of the sounds like the Profit 5 and Oberheim OB-X, and whilst Electro Harmonix say it only tracks down to A on bass guitar, I havent had much problem with lower notes. Possibly not too good for 5 string but at least if you can try before you buy it may be worth it.The only (two) downside(s) so far is that,a) Sometimes it took a little coaxing to get working on my pedalboard although that could well be my problem with my board there, andb) The pedal can be a little noisy in operation although mine could have been sat in a damp warehouse or just be again, problems with my board. A noise gate on the end of the chain would probably sort it out no problem and if you're in a loud band anyway there woyldn't be much to bother you.Overal, well worth the money.

Bad sound
I may have got a dud, but the sound this made on all settings was awful. Weak, jittery, just nasty.

I like it
Nice sounds, will probably only use about 4 of them, one bad point I'm experiencing is the sensitivity, I find it helps to keep the synth volume at around 10 to 12, or 10 o'clock depending on how you look at it , this helps cut any unwanted synth hum when you touch the neck of your guitar, I haven't used it yet with any other pedal so I'm interested to find out how it sounds on my board with my od pedals i.e. tube screamer and my strymon sunset, might get back to you all on that one. Anyway sounds nice at low volume, I think I might need to cut the mids and bass on my amp at giging volume as there is some serious bass when you stomp on the synth 9 .

Love this unit
Love this unit. I almost exclusively use the “strings” setting to add a bit of flavour to some songs in the duo I play in.
