Hi at what distance from which point of the device should SPL be measured?

As noted, the level produced depends the VOLUME of the calibrator CHAMBER, hence how well the microphone fits into it. There is a small "stop" at the base of each microphone adapter. With just the microphone adapter in place and no microphone, it's very soft even close to your ear. 1. Insert the microphone to the point that it stops 2. Turn on the calibrator to the required level, 94 dB is the more common 3. Set the meter to "A" weighting 3. Adjust your meter as appropriate 4. Repeat for the second level and with both "A" and "C" weighting if the meter has both. Make notes of any differences for future reference.

Il calibratore è in classe 2 e pertanto non gli si può richiedere prestazioni da classe 1 (non può essere utilizzato per misure fonometriche a scopo legale). Controllato con un fonometro professionale in classe 1, recentemente calibrato da centro Accredia, fornisce 93.7 dB @ 1000 Hz. Perfettamente in linea con quanto richiesto a un calibratore in classe 2 (e anche meglio). Pertanto, consigliabile. Lo utilizzo correntemente con un microfono "di misura" (low cost, il famoso ECM 8000) per calibrare i vari software di analisi di spettro calibrabili che utilizzo. MI sembra ragionevolmente stabile nel tempo; il microfono entra in modo stabile nel suo foro. Oltre che con le schede audio, l'ho anche utilizzato con i registratori digitali "seri", registrando il segnale di calibrazione a 94 (93.7) dB SPL, prendendo nota della posizione dell'attenuatore di ingresso, a comando digitale (nel Tascam, ogni step fa 1.5 dB, esatti). Così mi ritrovo un file di riferimento, valido per ogni successiva registrazione, annotando il livello di rec (gain). Un particolare, non grave: il calibratore, utilizzato con un fonometro giocattolo da 60 euro ha fornito un'indicazione errata di 8 dB! Non è colpa del calibratore (e neppure, in fondo del fonometro) ma solo della griglia del microfono del fonometro, che no rispetta il disposto della norma IEC dei fonometri e pertanto non si accoppia con il calibratore. Il suddetto fonometro, controllato per confronto rispetto a un fonometro vero, in laboratorio, ha un errore non superiore a +/- 1 dB.
