Step-by-Step Drawing Animals: 1

I've bought these series of books several times over the years, I usually pick the one on offer as they are all equally good, mainly for presents as I find children get quickly inspired by the easy to follow steps for the pictures but I also use it to help children at school to follow the steps if they are struggling to draw something on their artwork. It works well for anyone over the age of 6 although younger children can still follow the steps with a bit of help from an adult. The paper is thick enough to work with pencils and crayons but be careful on which felt tips you use!! as some might get through the paper and ruin the picture on the other side.

Both my seven-year-old son and I have spent happy hours drawing animals guided by the step-by-step instructions in this book. It's great for building kids' confidence in their abilities, and since there's plenty of space to practise it's fun to try each animal again after a while and see the improvement. I liked it so much, I've bought loads for birthday presents!

My 5 year old loves this book. Helped her feel success drawing animals she didn’t know well. She’s sat and concentrated for ages and really focused on the finer details. Also helped her drawing shapes (triangles etc) and understand the shapes required for different animals faces. She was proud of her work after! Great job Usborne another brilliant book.

I brought this book for my 5 year old son who is just getting into drawing. The simplicity of the book is really good and he just picks pages and things that he likes to draw and draws them. I think it has improved his drawing technique and mine to be far.

I never learned to draw at school very well and art was my worse subject. I needed a book that was easy and simple that anyone could follow. My cousin can paint and draw like a true artist, oh how I wish it was me. I have worked through this book several times now and I can draw all the animals as well as demonstrated in the book. I am really pleased with my drawings and very glad that I purchased this book. I am a full time carer and only get a very limited time in the evening to draw but the step by step examples to follow are very easy for a complete novice like me. I have found it very relaxing and enjoyable working my way through this book.

My 6 year old loved this and enjoys copying the pictures and then finding ways to add her own touches. Whilst the animals are a bit boxy it is a really useful way for children to learn about breaking something into simpler shapes to make it easier when drawing. I like that there is space on each page for practise sketches and that there are some different poses of each animal too. It really helps to solidify the shape based drawing technique.

Our whole family, adults and children, LOVE this book! So easy to follow and really makes you feel like you can draw. Designs you can learn and draw from memory - so so good! Would recommend to anyone. Also makes a great gift for kid’s friends aged 3-8 years ish. Really couldn’t love this book any more.

Given as a present and I haven't heard whether it's being enjoyed or not, but it's one I would have loved myself as a child. Since that didn't happen, I'd love to have the time to work through the book now and have a go. Very clear, simple and do-able but impressive drawings. If I had this then maybe my granddaughter, barely 2 years old, would not have commented that my monkey drawing looked like a bear. Great fun.

Great for children to learn easy tricks for drawing.

I had purchased this book about 7 years ago in a store for my eldest niece, now that my youngest niece is at the age to be interested I had to track these down again. It took me the better part of the day , visiting stores, browsing Amazon and webpages, before I found them, but it was worth it. They are great at highlighting the next line that needs drawn, they create the animals from basic shapes with minimal erasing, (perfect for kids that are still mostly working in crayon). They also have most of the page dedicated to letting the kids practice, so they won't have to move between books or grab extra supplies when sketching.

This book is very interactive and so easy to follow. I am really enjoying it so far.
