Review: Easy to read - Easy to read Review: Great book. - A great insight for anyone interested in Montessori. This book includes many examples of how her methods can be applied in the classroom. My favorite thing I liked about this book is about the way she is describing the teaching methods and how a teacher should be in the class. I recommend it for a parent, teacher and it is a must for a student.

Life changingly good
What a wonderful read. Everyone rearing a child should read it... Many Montessori places seem not to be run by Montessori's own principles. This is worth reading so you know what they are.. Between the continuum concept and this, (oh and how to talk so little kids will listen) hopefully my daughter has some hope! ; ) But seriously, without Montessori to back me up, most people think i'm mad that i don't want little one doing sny 'fantasy' till at least age 6 etc. Montessori explains why that is, after all, a good idea. Practical life skills all the way. I like that she backs up the 'no praise not reward' system with children. ...

Yes it's great - but although highly cogent, a very "dense" read
Yes, it was a bit of a struggle reading through this, frankly. Not for the faint-hearted. It is crammed with ideology and momentum given the time it was written (after the Second World War). It is very much of its time, the developmental theories I agree with, but the ideology takes over. I would not read this first-hand until you had read introductions to Montessori's teaching. But that's just me!

where is the rest???
I purchased this for my study, I needed chapter 19,22,23,26 , but this kindle version finishes at chapter 21. where is the rest??? why on earth the important chapters were omitted?? I purchased the new edition yesterday which contains all the chapter ,which includes chapter 19,22,23,26, I needed. I had to purchase again, though, I am very happy.

This was one of the deepest books I’ve ever read. Even though some of the science may have changed and the vocabulary can be strange as philosophy it is brilliant and true. I wish every parent and teacher would read it.
