Great for fixing garage roof leaks
I had a leak on my garage roof as the high winds had tore some felt off and i had to patch the felt as the rain was leaking through. It is easy to roll out and cut to size but i found it wouldn't stick to the felt very well on its own ,i mean it worked , i just didnt think it would seal very well but i found the best way to use it is stick it down with a roller or your hands where you need it and take an ordinary heat gun to it for a few seconds. It has a tar adhesive on one side which melts and forms to what it is stuck too , use gloves though as the tar can be messy. It works for covering holes etc as well, great stuff

A lifesaver
Arrived just in time for Storm Isha. I didn't realise that we had birds nesting in our loft until I removed a box and found their disused nest. A close examination of the roof felt revealed a hole and mindful of the strength of the gale about to hit us, I needed a quick repair and discovered this product. Amazon delivered within 24 hours and I was ready to go.The hole is in a very difficult to access place next to converging beams and whilst my preferred option would have been to place a patch of roofing felt over the hole and fix it down using this tape or standard adhesive, time was my issue. Having read a few reviews of this product, after receiving the product I cut off a number of strips, remove the backing and fixed individual strips over the 10 X 10 hole. I used a hair dryer to warm us the adhesive before sticking it to the felt and to soften the tape to make it more malleable, I then used the heat from the dryer when the tape was in place to soften it sufficiently to guarantee a bond. When the tape was all in place, I again applied the dryer to each seam to ensure that both the seams were properly sealed and the repair was as sound as it could be. I have just checked post storm and the repair is completely intact and should hold out until I carry out a proper repair.Reasonabley priced and very effective undertaking a job it wasn't exactly designed for.

Read the instructions!
Just finished using this tape to temporarily repair some cracked valley tiles while waiting for a roofer to be available. If you don't read the instructions and just try to slap this on without preparing the surfaces or using a primer you will be disappointed. If you follow the instructions it'll stick really well. One extra tip: If you're using in cool or cold weather, it helps to warm the tape with a blowlamp before pressing it down. It creates a fantastic seal.

Weak ahesive
Adhesive lets this down. Exposure to air or finger/handprint comrpomises the fixing.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT BUT HAD TO USE HEAT TO GET A 100% SEAL
SITUATION: I used this product to seal a plastic (polycarbonate?) Corolux roof to two exterior painted brick walls. The previous seal had failed after many years service. The work was done in cool but dry autumn weather. I am a time served DIYer but a first time user of Flashband.PREPARATION: I cleaned off the old sealant mostly with a scrapers. I filled mortar joints where mortar had come away and other indents in the brickwork with two pack Ronseal polyester filler to get a new surface quickly. In some places I had to dry out the brick work with a hot air blower to get the filler to stick well. Afterwards I sanded the filler to a flat surface. I primed the area the Flasband was to cover with the Bostic primer which i think was essential to get a good bond.APPLICATION: Putting the Flashband in place was easy as it is vey forgiving so it is easy to keep in a straight line. I used a roller to press every section in place. That cured 99% of the leaks I had previously.REFINISHING: I went back over all of the Flashband with the roller and gentle application of the hot air blower. I could immediately see that the bonding was better all round especially at the edges. i would always do this except perhaps in hot weather as i then got 100% dryness.RESULT.: Easier to used and better than i could have hoped for. As usual preparation was most important and takes longest.
