Seven pairs and counting!
I've been buying and wearing Dr Martens for about seven years now and I own several pairs, all of which I have bought after trying them on beforehand in a store. Knowing the product well, I know that in general I wear a size 7, despite wearing a size 8 in all other brands of footware. I am a woman and so I would suggest if you can't try on a pair beforehand, perhaps go for a size smaller than you would in a trainer or shoe. A walking boot is a good comparison but these boots are generally on the larger side as they are intended to be unisex.I had been looking for a dark brown pair for a few weeks and was lucky enough to stumble upon this pair on Amazon for less than £80 and although this might seemed like a lot of money to pay for a pair of boots, knowing the product well, I knew it was a good deal. I couldn't find another similar pair for less than £110 brand new on the internet or my more local stores. This pair is a lot softer in the leather than my previous pairs, which leads me to believe they may also be a little less weather resistant, so it's important to use some kind of protector on the leather. Although Docs are somewhat water resistant (fear no puddle) they are not repellent or all weather resistant, so be careful! These boots generally take some time to break in and shape to your foot. Because the leather stretches it's important not to go rambling in them straight away. I recommend wearing them a few times for short periods just to get used to them. It's very common to get blisters between your heel and the top of your foot if you don't break them in properly, and even then, you might still get some rubbing. If you're concerned I recommend sticking large plasters to the inside heel of the shoe for the first week or so. Please don't let this put you off, as once they are comfortable, these are the best brand I have ever owned.Pros for Docs in General*The soles are thick and resistant, after years of walking around in them, there is still much wear left.*The leather stretches*Feet are kept very dry in rain and walking through big puddles*Last for years*Loads of varieties available*Unisex*Shoelaces last (I've not needed to replace a pair yet!)*Can pull on easily with the tagCons for Docs in General*Can be uncomfortable when new*Patterned pairs can erode quickly (even though the shoe itself is hard wearing)*On the large size for most women*More expensive than other brands

Versatile and durable (tips for care)
If you’re like me and love the look and durability of leather boots, but find the thought of wearing a dead animal’s skin on your feet sad and kinda gross, these boots are probably the best compromise. They’re not as waterproof as real leather and they are also not breathable, which means polish won’t nourish them as effectively as with real leather. On the other hand, I’ve worn these boots constantly for 4 months for everything from 3 hour dog walks to going out clubbing (they’re not heavy and they go great with all my outfits). I’ve managed to keep them as good as new by washing off mud and dirt with a damp cloth and then brushing on a layer of regular black shoe polish (I only bother with one layer as the polish just sits on top and gets knocked off easily).I found that the yellow stitching around the bottom (which I love) can fade if it gets muddy or if you polish over it.If this happens you can restore it by squirting a bit of washing up liquid on an old toothbrush and giving it a scrub all the way round. In terms of the fit, I have quite narrow feet but these boots are quite a wide fit. I get on fine with these boots that are the same size as all my other shoes but I’ll usually have to wear 2 pairs of socks.I would recommend these boots without hesitation; In my opinion the price is easily justifiable because of the smart look and durability.I’m pretty confident that I’m not going to need another pair of boots for a very long time.

Comfortable
Heard that DM’S are notorious for breaking in & hurt your feet. I’ve worn these few times now & no issues, no sore heels or anything. Lovely fit too

Really nice
These were for my wife, and she declared them to be "Really nice!! "We read previous reviews, so she made a point of wearing for short periods of time, and now they are very comfortable. They are still very new, so haven't seen any wet weather, and too soon for a qualified comfort rating, but looking very good!

Beautiful material
I've wanted doc martens for ever and when I found these it was a must buy. The value of them I could have bought 2 and still saved. The fit is true to size. Beautiful craftsmanship gorgeous colour. Firm . Great value for money

You wouldn't know the difference!
Bought for my son who is vegan. We got a size 7 so he wouldn't grow out of the them too quickly, being a little more than size 6 at the moment. Fortunately for him, size 7 fits him perfectly and he is delighted with the boots. Unfortunately for me, they fit him perfectly and I'll be buying another pair in six months. So, my estimation is that the sizes are slightly smaller than advertised which should be borne in mind.Other than that, they look and feel just like a classic pair of Docs. The tag is a different colour from the original, but you wouldn't know otherwise. I am told they were comfortable from the get go and didn't need breaking in at all. So, I am happy to give them a full 5 stars even though the sizes are very slightly off.

Vegan boots
I loved the look of these boots with a fab price tag but, they are not true to size as it states. I would need to go 3 sizes up if I wanted them to fit .
