No noticable effects
Middle aged guy trying to get in shape, using whatever supplements I was advised to I gave these a go.I was telling myself they were working, but after a couple of weeks, realised they weren't giving me any gain. The tingle I had been told to expect wasn't there, I even (rather stupidly) double dosed, just to see if there was anything, and got nothing. Took them as suggested, bought another pack to see if I needed to just keep it up to experience the effects, but can honestly say I felt absolutely no effect from taking them. Moving on to another brand. I don't believe these were anything more than placebo.

Good to go ...
Hard to be sure when you review this sort of thing as like most people that train you tend to eat after you train so your metabolism is zooming and you burn the calories and metabolise the food faster. However I am taking this in conjunction with a number of other supplements and I am losing weight and training harder for longer so it's pretty positive all the way around at the moment.

Packing a punch...
So I’ve been working out regularly for the past couple of years (usually with HIIT workouts or simple body-weight exercises) and have already made a significant difference to my (ageing!) body. However recently I seemed to plateau and it looked like I’d hit some invisible ceiling on how muscular or lean a body I could achieve at my age without starting freaky diets. I’ve always been a great believer in the importance of nutrition but hadn’t taken any bodybuilding supplements for years and my knowledge was a bit out of date. Catching up recently has meant I’ve now realised there are some supplements that can be of particular benefit in building and maintaining muscle mass for middle-aged and (mainly) vegetarian blokes like me - and Beta Alanine is one of those.Beta Alanine is already widely used in pre-workout drinks and it's apparently particularly beneficial when taken this way, although the most important thing (as with many supplements) is just to take it regularly. If you’ve ever had that pins-and-needles sensation taking a pre-workout drink it was probably caused by Beta Alanine and it can obviously cause the same reaction taken as a single supplement too. Assuming you can deal with that then it’s of most benefit during short bursts of exertion (like HIIT workouts) and has been found to increase the power you can generate over short periods. So, for example, it might not be the best supplement for marathon runners, but if you’re a sprinter this might really work for you. These Bodybuilding Warehouse capsules are not too big, completely tasteless and easy enough to swallow. I haven't been bothered by the pins-and-needles effect but then I avoid taking them on an empty stomach, which can exacerbate that side-effect. For me it’s a new supplement I’ve just added into my routine and too soon to judge the results. I’ve added a couple of supplements to my routine recently, in particular the ones middle-aged vegetarians seem to be short of, including Creatine and Branch Chain Amino Acids and it definitely seems to be having an overall beneficial effect. I’m not sure yet what part Beta Alanine might play in that, but I’ll let you know here later… :-)

Great beta alanine supplement
Beta alanine supplements have clinically demonstrated benefits in supporting enhanced muscular endurance during work. This means you can do more work, which should result in your body making additional adaptations. Like all exercise supplements (eg creatine), your training and diet will need to be on point to see the potential benefits. If you are not pushing yourself through progressive overload, there is likely to be minimal benefit from supplementing with beta alanine. You should also check any other products you use to see if they already contain beta alanine, as it is a common ingredient in pre-workouts.These capsules were easy to take and convenient to store. A common effect of beta alanine supplementation is tingly fingers and an itchy feeling . I have had this previously with pre-workouts, but found these capsules to have a lesser effect. All told, these are a solid and reasonably priced beta alanine supplement.

Never tried beta-alanine before but it would be a good idea to try these along with gym training
Never tried beta-alanine before but it would be a good idea to try these along with gym training. I initially tried a couple of the pills with water half an hour before starting in the gym. This turned out as a bit of a mistake because the 'buzz' I got was far too intense and gave me the shakes with a headache to match. Luckily it didn't last long and it soon subsided. I since researched that this is a normal and will not affect you in the long term. After dropping to one pill at a time, the effects were more manageable and didn't cause any ill effects. In terms of gym performance, I feel like it gave a slightly extra improvement in energy/ performance levels, but nothing considerable. The pills are easy to take and do not repeat on you after taking them. I would recommend trying them out if you currently consume beta alanine but I'm not sure I would recommend trying this supplement if you are new to it.UPDATE:After not using these for about a month, a trying a similar pre-workout supplement, I soon realised how much better these were. After trying no supplement beforehand, and a preworkout mix with many flavourings and 'added benefits' these seemed expensive and far more troublesome. I've got some more - they are working great and workouts are better than ever. I've updated this review from 3 to 5 stars, but be cautious of the real effects you will get if you are new to them, stick at it and you'll definitely improve your workouts!
