Surprisingly good (but there’s a knack to inserting them)
These are surprisingly good – very handy to keep in your swim bag – for water that you just can’t shake out of your ear. They work a treat. But there’s a knack to inserting them so they work properly. You should end up with most of the plug in your ear canal, with only a small end sticking out so you can easily remove the plug. Roll the earplug between your thumb and index finger. You want to roll the earplug into a snake-like shape. This will make it smaller so it can be easily inserted into the ear. The foam will expand again once you’ve fitted it inside your ear, then it can absorb water. Make sure that you’re just thinning the ear plug out lengthwise (not rolling it up into a ball).IMPORTANT BIT: Pull your ear up and back. Grab the top of your ear with the hand not holding the ear plug. Stretch it slightly up and backwards. This will pull your ear open a bit, allowing you to more easily insert your earplug. Don’t pull too hard. Just a gentle tug is enough to have your ear expanded enough for the ear plug. Then slowly insert the ear plug into your ear canal. It should easily slide in place with your ear canal expanded slightly. DON'T BURY THE PLUG: while most of the foam body should be in the ear canal, there should be enough of the plug outside the canal that you can easily grasp it with your fingertips. Hold in place for 20-30 seconds. Most of the foam body should be in your ear canal by the end. Then leave it in place for 15-20 minutes. Once in-ear, I don’t feel like these plugs are doing anything … but 15-20 minutes later all the water’s gone.A good buy!

Seem to work - and reusable
As someone who has regularly suffered from trapped water after swimming - and came back from a summer holiday on three separate occasions to then suffer an ear infection I was keen to try this possible solution.Initial impressions were poor - they are quite difficult to squeeze small enough to fit into the ear canal. If you don't compress them enough they quickly become loose and fall out. But once I got the technique - using index finger and thumb from BOTH hands to simultaneously roll the plug and squeeze as hard as possible - then as quickly as possible stuff the narrow cylinder into the ear before it expands again. They don't really feel as if they are doing much - but twenty minutes later there was no longer the sensation of moving water in my ear - so I guess that they do basically work! The bit about single use is either just a hygiene proviso - or a sales stunt. In fact they are perfectly reusable provided your ears are clean - just dry gently in the sun or other warm place.I used the same pair all week and they still look fine to reuse in future.Three stars only because of the difficulty inserting them.

Dry, or nearly dry ears.
I have T tubes in my ears and have to wear earplugs when washing hair or swimming. No plugs are truly watertight, and these are an extra safeguard to dry out my ears. Quite pleased with this very simple product.

Sofe, wearable earplugs
Wife loves them for sleeping as she is easily woken. They are soft on the ears and take out a fair bit of noise.

Brilliant product!
As an adult who suffers from horrid earaches these are a godsend. My earaches are set off by a number of things, including getting water in my ears. Even a couple of drops can give me the most awful earache. So if i accidentally get water in my ears i pop these in and wow, no earache! They come in a handy plastic box. I always take them to the hairdressers just in case too. I cant undrrstand the bad reviews, these are not earplugs to stop you getting water in your ears, these are to remove water from your ears. They work, thats all you need to know :)

Not sure if they work
Fast and efficient service. Have tried this once so far, but it is difficult to tell if it actually absorbed any water because couldn't feel/see it in the plug. Also, didn't realize that they are 'use once and discard', so not sure if they are good value. Have bought swimming earplugs to use instead; they seem to work well.

Expensive but very effective
These really do work, absorbing water from your ears and leaving them feeling much more comfortable. Ignore reviews that say you can use them while swimming. They are intended to dry your ears out after swimming. Each one can only be used once, which does make them rather expensive for regular swimmers. You put them in for 5 to 10 minutes and will be amazed at how much better your ears feel. Certainly worth buying if the choice, otherwise, is to avoid swimming.
