They are hard on the outside but soft in the centre and have a good strong mint flavour. I had always thought that the name Mint Imperial was a brand name but then found that there were several manufacturers - these from Glisten come out tops in texture and flavour. A big bag like this will last a long time but they keep extremely well in an air-tight container and give excellent value for money. But as for so many products, you just have to use your own judgement. I am still happily using a bag bought nearly 6 years ago and the mints both look and taste like new. They are basically peppermint oil flavoured sugar after all, so it is one big bag of natural preservative. 3 kg of sugar is a lot to use, so the mints get eaten sparingly knowing they are safe so to do.
