They would work but the fabric is different and would stand out. Suggest you try John Lewis who specialise in haberdashery.

I think it probably would. I have washed my coat twice since applying a patch and it stayed in place perfectly . The patches are reasonably soft in texture, so certainly worth a try, I'd say.
