I have two cats, and one started dragging the food placemat around and spilling water everywhere on a daily basis. I bought this to hopefully defeat that behavior, and it's worked decently well so far. She hasn't moved the mat more than a couple inches and hasn't spilled anything.The suction cups don't hold for more than a couple minutes on textured linoleum. Maybe they'd work on a perfectly smooth surface. The bowls are good sized and quite deep--a bit bigger than what I had before but okay for two cats. If you have a pet who likes to make a mess with their food, this is definitely worth a try.

I have 4 cats, all from the same litter and about to turn 1 year old. For some reason, they all prefer to drink from a large metal bowl.. they also love digging around in their water and pushing the water everywhere! I previously had a reservoir dish that they would tip and dig all of the water out of. This bowl set is great, because it is deep enough that they don't really try to dig in it, but if something gets spilled from the bowl, it all gets collected in the surrounding mat. The suctions on the sides keep them from pushing the bowls around. And the bowls are large enough that everyone can eat from them without it running out every few hours. The kids have other bowls for their wet food, but these bowls keep them supplied with cat chow in-between tuna feedings. Everybody is happy! Great purchase!

My dogs are a mess when they drink their water and I really love all the water the mat catches. We used to use towels and mats for the water adsorption, but it was always like the dogs got more water on the floor than they actually drank. The only thing I don't like is the size of the bowls. We have 2 medium sized dogs who not only drink a lot, but also manage to get half of the water all over the kitchen. I find myself filling these constantly, but the bowls pull out very easily and they don't get that nasty grime from dog mouths that plastics usually get. The suction cups work sometimes, I'll come to fill up the bowls with water and the mat will just lift right up (even after making sure they are stuck down). Other than a couple of minor tweaks, I really like this set.

Finally something to keep water off the floor. My cat is obsessed with water and always scoots and spills every bowl I have tried. These stay put and the lip edge catches the splashes when she plays in the water. I hesitated to buy it thinking the bowls would be too big, but they are just the right size. The bowls are easy to remove from the base for cleaning too.

Overall I like it, and would buy it again, but the suction cups on the bottom dont keep the mat in place, and I have ultra smooth laminate floors with no texture. My situation is ideal for these suction cups to stay, and they simply dont keep stuck. Past that though, the rubber does a good job keeping it in place, so it sort of does it's job.

I ordered this because I have a cat who likes to shove around the water dish, splashing water everywhere. I specifically ordered this product because of the suction cups on the bottom of the silicone mat to help secure it to the floor. The mat I received is like the product I ordered, but without the suction cups. It's a smooth bottom silicone mat. The mat shipped folded, so it does not lay flat, which defeats my purpose in purchasing this item. This product works "OK" in keeping the water in the bowl, but the cat still digs up the mat and splashes water, especially because of the curled up edges from being folded during shipping. Also, the bowls I received are 18-20 oz. bowls, not the 32 oz. I purchased.

Great idea, poorly executed. We have hard tile floor and have tried everything to get the suction cups on the bottom of this mat to work. Tiny cats can still move it. The only perk is that it is rubber and it does hold the bowls so it prevents the cats from knocking the water over. But now they just see the corners of the mat as flaps to play with, as the suction does not actually stick to the floor as it should. Pretty disappointed, but don't hate it enough to go through the hassle of a return.

Works great, just make sure you press the suction cups down REALLY hard to get them to stick. I had to get them a little wet to work at first, but does it's job; now my jerk-cat doesn't spill the water bowl everywhere!
