Works fine
Works fine no real issues, build quality appears sound and the peg removal tool is a nice touch. Doesn't fit perfectly with the heads on my acoustic so have to make sure to push In whilst turning but it works fine.

Very good winder
I bought this Jim Dunlop winder because the D'Addario one I'd previously bought turned out to be useless! :-(This Jim Dunlop winder is well made, sturdy, works well, has a good peg remover and doesn't fall apart when being used. I'd recommend it any day! :-)

Perfect for standard-sized AND small-sized tuning pegs!
I bought this solely for the X-shaped cross-section on the head, as the smaller part of the X is designed for smaller tuning pegs. I was thrilled that this fits the smallish hex-shaped tuning pegs on my electric guitar like a dream! Additionally, the string winder head is tall enough to ensure complete clearance from the adjacent pegs, meaning no more loose wobbling and banging off adjacent tuning pegs! The handle itself is also long enough to allow all four fingers to grip it, which just makes for a much smoother and easier string wind. I paid £6 for this (with free prime postage), but honestly I'd be happy paying twice that amount now. My small tuning pegs were giving me so much grief that I was even considering replacing them with something larger, like the the Grover "half-moon" pegs on my acoustic. All I needed was a properly-fitting string winder! Should have bought one years ago. Cannot recommend enough.(Larger section fits my acoustic perfectly btw)

It is a string winder… what more does it need to do?
Works.Never bothered with one and always thought they were a waste of time. As I have got older I have decided my old fingers could do with a bit of help winding the strings on (I have a lot of guitars) so I bought this string winder.I did feel a bit like I was giving in and being a wuss the first time I used it but after three or four strings I was completely sold.So easy. Not just faster but stops your fingers getting cramp/knackered on the tuning heads. If you are wondering if you should get one. Just get one. Don’t question it.

Strung out...
Restringing guitars always used to wind me up. Some of my guitars seem to have a very bad gear ratio that involves twirling machine heads for "hours" in order to get a semitone rise on the note. No more! Now I can plonk this winder over a machine head and look more as though I'm trying to start an antique car! The small section that fits around the machine head is designed to suit a variety of tuning peg styles, and won't suit basses with their elephant-ear wingnut tuners. While it may be a useful accessory to a studio musician such as me, I can see it being essential to any gigging guitarist and certainly any guitar tech, it just cuts down so much time during a string change. Any tremolo Strat owner with the old-style trem bridge will know that a string break makes the whole instrument hopelessly detuned, at least now someone has a fighting chance of getting it playable before the next song in the set.
