Will this dye chunky rubber soles of a shoe?

Yes there is a possibility that it my dye the rubber.

Does this need a sealer

After letting dry for 24 hours I just waxed with same colour normal shoe polish. ( Brush & cloth) Seems to have done the trick. Been caught in rain since with no negative effects. C

Would this work on patent leather?

I use it to dye wood and it works, really works. So I don't think it matters what you are going to use it on it will be black afterwards.

Is this a matte finish

I applied it to a new pair of leather boots, already black. The dye did not dry to a matte finish but was not really shiny.
