Fool Proof way to expand your ethernet network
Literally anyone can use this to expand their wired network at home. A great way to get round the limitations of wifi. Plug in the power, plug in your devices using network cables. Plug the switch into your router. In my case the 4 ports on my BT Homehub were all full. I replaced one with the cable to the switch and plugged all my other devices in to the switch. The switch immediately works. Nothing to configure. The difficult bit for some people might be getting the cables around their house, but if you have the devices in the same room as your router it is child's play. I used mine to connect far more devices to my BT homehub than it has ports for. Currently we have 2 PS4s, 2 smart TVs, a desktop PC, a humax tv recorder, a CCTV DVR and a Hive home control, and I still have a couple of spare ports. My sons who like to be gaming on their PS4s particularly appreciate the stability and speed of their connection.

Nice little Hub
This was to connect the Ethernet cables I have installed round the house to the main incoming hub. Was quick and easy to install and is working as expected. Good little product.

Definitely one of TP-Link's better items.
I cannot flaw this item, so it is fully worthy of 5 stars. Honestly! I could not find a single fault with it. It's just perfect, and at the price, has no competition at all. The design is attractive and sleek. When I opened the box, I was surprised by how small the product was, much smaller and thinner than some ethernet switches. The lights on the front do what they are meant to do - you can see them perfectly well when you look straight-on, but they can't be seen out of the corner of the eye where they would be annoying. Perfect. I have had items from TP-Link before, and whilst I do like them for being reliable ("The reliable choice", am I right?!), the speed of their products has been lackluster. This is different, there were no slowdowns and I could transfer files between multiple clients simultaneously at near-gigabit speeds (to those who aren't aware, 1 gigabit does not equal 1 gigabyte per second, it's more like 128.5 megabytes per second). I really see no reason for people not to buy this switch. It's small and hides away nicely, it looks great and works perfectly well. Also, over the 3 months I've had it so far it hasn't broken, and I'll update this review if it does.

Does what it says
The item is great works perfect rather than buying an expensive router that might be a lack of security or to have a huge buffering at all the time fact which wasn’t happening with your provider router this would do just fine with a straight Ethernet cable. The only thing for which I haven’t given all stars is that the wlan port isn’t really noted as wlan so I’ve chose the first slot and the book that comes with is not much helpful. Anyway cheap and good hopefully would last not like a gaming router from a well known brand that didn’t last neither meet my expectations even with their quite expensive subscription was failing to keep a connection alive.

Good Value, both 8 and 5 port switches. Easy install.
I needed more ethernet ports than my old tp-link (5 port) ethernet switch provided, so decided to get this 8 port version. Also my old switch was only 10/100 Mbps, whereas the new one was 10/100/1000 Mbps. I didn't expect the subsequent jump in speed which I experienced from the new switch. It has made a big difference, stuff now responds much more quickly than before. I used the old and now the new, switches to provide hard wired broadband to my home entertainment systems. So that means TV, Humax, Chromecast and Now TV devices all sharing the one broadband feed, via Powerline connection to my Router. With the new 8 port switch I am now free to add further stuff to my hard-wired broadband. The switch was very easy to install, really just "Plug & Play" and represents excellent value for money. Update:- As my old 5 port switch stopped working, I bought a new TP Link 5 port switch and it works just as well as the 8 port. These switches are simplicity itself to install and worth every penny.

It just works!
I've had two TP-Link TL-SG1005D 5 port switches running continuously for over 7 years now so, when I needed an extra port to add a Sky Q Mini box, I didn't hesitate to buy this 8-port switch. All that was required was to swap the Ethernet cables over to the new switch and power it up with the new power supply and everything work first time. I am now able to network my Windows 10 PC, an old Dell XP PC, a Mac Mini, Sky Q, a Hive hub, my XBOX One and my NAS drive plus a Trendnet Ethernet-over-mains adaptor. The only slight disadvantage compared to the older switch is that this new one has the activity LEDs built-in to the Ethernet connector ports so they are on the back whereas the old switch had the ports on the back and the LEDs on the front. However this is a minor grumble as, how often does one need to check the status of the connections? If this switch proves as reliable as the previous ones, I will be well satisfied with my £15.99 purchase!

Brilliant solution for Smart Home Fans!
Problem: As my Smart Home develops, there is more demand on Ethernet Ports on the ISP's Router - it only has 4 ports. I have 5 devices, and will probably add more. I learned about this solution after trailing through pages of information about managed/unmanaged Ethernet Switches, Routers and lots of complicated instructions about how to convert a Router/Modem into Modem only. My head reeling with all this information I went shopping on Amazon for a solution. Most devices I looked at, I didn't really understand what they did exactly, and seemed to cost a fortune. Then I found this! Oh, Joy! Not only is this cheap, it does exactly what I need. I connected all my smart Home Hubs, my Printer and my PC and used the existing ethernet cable from the Modem/Router to connect to the TP-Link. Took 5 mins. I did have to spend the next 20 mins "reminding" my Smart Hubs to connect to my network, but that wasn't hard. Everything works great and I now have 3 spare Ports for future use. So if you have the same problem as I did then this is the solution you are looking for.

Easy plug and play, plenty of ports, perfect!
I had a perfectly good 6 port network hub that had been happily flashing away under my TV for years but more gadgets means more network connections and I finally ended up needing more ports. There are lots of network hubs to choose from and they all seem pretty much of a muchness but this one seemed to have decent reviews, be adequate for my needs and so I gave it a go! It’s perfect for me, I plugged it in to the mains, inserted all my LAN cables and everything is online, doing exactly what I want. Easy setup, good value, just plug and play and away you go. I recommend this item !
