Well built proper outside doormat for the UK climate
Substantial bit of kit. It has no base so the rain passes through and the mat doesn't get waterlogged. Dirt accumulates under the mat of course so you have to sweep up and give the mat a good bashing occasionally. I wouldn't use it indoors but then I got it for outside where it is perfect.

The Best Door Mat You Can Buy
It is important to note that these mats do NOT have any synthetic backing. These mats are natural fibre throughout. So they let the floor underneath breath.. That is important for real wooden floors and for man-made flooring like Karndean. It is inevitable, therefore, that these mats will shed fibres and those fibres will find their way around the house if they are not vacumned regularly. To give those who don't understand these mats even more reason to moan, vacunm cleaners with narrow pipes will get clogged up by the fibres. So machines like a Dyson V8 Animal - fantastic though it is for other uses - are not want is best for this job. So why buy these mats? Because they remove all filth from outside boots & shoes and store it between the fibres so the next person in can do the same. We have been doing a complete refurbishment of our house with builders in and out non-stop. After the ground floor flooring went down (out of sequence, of course) they still kept coming in with fillthy boots. One of these mats at every door stopped that filth spreading. Pick them up once a week and shake them over the skip. Beat them if you like. Fantastic - highly recommended.

Durable mat!
We bought this mat 2 years ago to replace the previous coir mat we had in the recess in our hallway, mostly so that our cat could use it as a scratcher. It seems to be pretty durable and has now been scratched every day for 2 years and is only just starting to look a bit shabby in places! It does move around a lot on laminate flooring, but is fine for what we needed it for. It did shed a bit to begin with but it stopped after a few months. It also can't be chucked in the washing machine, which isn't particularly hygienic if you're using it indoors. It's served it's purpose well as a cat scratcher though!

Good quality mat
My husband and I were delighted with the quality of this mat, particularly given the price. A very good buy: so much so that we ordered a 2nd one for use outside (porch area, so in the main, sheltered from inclement weather). The only observation I would make is that because it is 100% coir, you might need to purchase anti-slip carpet backing: otherwise, the mat is liable to slip. It certainly did on our tiled kitchen floor, so the backing was essential. My husband didn't want a PVC backed coir mat as the PVC is apt to wear out quickly, whereas the separate backing can be replaced if need be, without having to buy a new mat.

Good value, simple, plain doormat. Job done
I'm not a huge fan of doormats as such, but when my new flat came with a ridiculously light-coloured fitted carpet, it was time to reconsider. Time to buy a doormat. Not having given doormats any thought previously, I was struck by two things: how expensive they can be (up to £80-odd), and how difficult it is to find one without all manner of decoration. I did not want WELCOME, a Union flag or a set of botanically exact and horrendously expensive flower pots. I briefly flirted with NOT YOU AGAIN before deciding it was a sure way of offending at a stroke everyone I had ever known.Doormats also come in sizes, and many of the cheaper ones prove to be very small, and/or quite thin. Fine if you have a very small front door and visitors with dainty feet. I was aiming to fit the width of my front door as exactly as possible, which this one just about does. It is not as heavy duty as some -- if you need to cope with really heavy wear, think again. I am not planning to have armies march over it, so it is perfect for me: reasonably priced, medium sized and plain. (And it didn't smell, as some others do.)

An OK mat
I wanted to buy a replacement mat to go outside our front door in a porch which is quite large & under cover from the rain unless blowing a real gale. So many mats I looked at in shops were so thin but I wanted a thick one & searched Amazon. When reading reviews I realised that a lot of people needed mats to go inside hall mat wells so were governed by the depth they could take. I eventually chose this mat as it seemed to be about the thickest I could find. I would have liked it to have been even thicker but it seems well made & does the job so I would recommend it as a well made mat.

Natural product
This is a good quality traditional doormat. It's entirely natural coir, made in India. No plastic. The mat is tightly woven so feels like it will last years. As other reviewers have said, a few strands of coir come away initially but that it to be expected with a natural product and it isn't problematic. I unwrapped in the garden and beat it a bit before use to reduce the shedding.

I have bought these woven juts mats before and they are so good.
These floor mats are perfect, I have bought two recently. I had one 30 years ago and it's still going strong. They are the best floor mats because I live in the country with two large dogs.I wear wellies in the Winter and the mats make great guards, against the mud and debris.I vacuum the mats regulary and when the weather is dry, I take them outside and bash them against a wall. They don't need any other care.
