Worked for replacing vintage doors, probably not industrial strength
Bought this kit for use in replacing a set of vintage doors on a 1915 era house that were coated in lead-based white. These were all non-standard sizes and solid wood, so we had to make replacements. I don't normally make full-size doors so this is the first door hinge jig that I have used. It worked nicely and I was pleased to find that the vintage hinges were a standard size that had a template in this set. Be warned that the templates don't always sit well in the metal frame, so you might have to use a rubber mallet. Router bit worked nicely, the templates were easy to use. Everything you need is in one kit. The only disappointment was that the corner chisel was a little dull and required a bit of sharpening. Pair this with a door knob jig and you are ready to go.

Great Tool at a great price
My wife and I are project house enthusiasts and I do a lot of finish carpentry. Every so often doors require replacement and hand chiseling / mortising is not my gig. I have searched many times for router templates for door hinges and strike plates and when I found this kit it looked complete and the quality looked equally up to par. I recently used it on some five panel replacement doors in our old farmhouse and was not disappointed. I found the fixtures easy to use and accurate. This product met all of my expectations and at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend.

Good, but still requires nails to hold in place
It is among the best jigs I have purchased. The only gripe is it still expects you to secure the jig by using nails, or screws. I would much rather see a clamp solution. However, if you’re careful, you can hold this jig and the router without needing to create more holes to patch later. Proceed with extreme caution when doing this. In fact, if you have limited experience with a router, don’t even try this.

This is the jig for all door installations.
Super easy to use and dead accurate. I'm not thrilled that you must drill holes to hold it but I guess there's a trade off for the good things about it. It makes installing doors a snap. All you need is the router. The kit supplies everything else.

It is good value for money spent.
This kit replaces three shop made jigs that worked very well, they just took up too much space in my service rig. I went through the instruction manual, pretty simple to use, and everything was there.Pros...* The metal base plate is stiff enough not to flex when used.* The inserts are made of tough plastic and fit snuggly.* There are enough inserts to do any hinge or striker plate I can think of.* The base is adjustable; it fits 1-3/8" and 1-3/4" doors.* The kit includes a corner chisel, two screws and a screw centering tool.* The adjustment knob clicks into place with a good solid snap.* In a very small box I can carry everything I need to router hinges.Cons...* I can't think of any. It is good value for money spent.* Could it be made better? Sure it could, but then it would cost a lot more.* There is no centering mark on the inside of the plastic insert.

but not a perfect solution.
PRACTICE BEFORE YOU USE ITIt works, but didn't have the size that I need for a ball and catch strike plate I was installing. It could have been an uncommon size (2"). Worked well for standard size hinges ect. after some practice. As others have mentioned included screws are junk and will need replacing. The included corner chisel is cheaply made as well.Bottoms line is it is easier than doing it by hand, but not a perfect solution.

Not a time saver
When the instructions call for wood putty you know there’s a problem. When you’re installing hardware on a new door the last thing you want to do is drill unnecessary holes, which is exactly what must be done to mount this thing. At least it taught me to pay more attention before I buy something. Saved the router bit and pilot bit and tossed the rest in the trash.
