First Phonics Words (Very First Reading)

First Phonics Words - great!
I first stumbled across this in my local library. It is a relatively new book (2013). My son was 3 (nearly 4) and could recognise all the letters phonically in the alphabet and was showing lots of interest in words - pointing at them in books and pretending to read them whilst tracing them with his finger. On each page there is a 3 letter main word, such as 'cat' in large letters at the top and then lots of different pictures or lots of things going on in one bigger picture with 3 or 4 captions, including the main word. For example: cat on a mat / sad cat / fat cat / cat in a hat. With a tiny bit of help/prompting/reminding, spelling and blending the words, he soon got the hang of it and was very keen to keep 'reading' this book over and over.I thought it was a lovely start to reading and something that was easy enough to begin at home before he had started in reception class at school. I only wish there was a follow up. There are other books in the series, but they seem to be a bit more complex.

Wonderful book for brand new readers
Excellent first reading book. My daughter who is four has become delighted she can now read! Lots of three letter words that are spoken phonetically. Lots of repeated words throughout the book. Nicely illustrated. Long enough to give plenty of learning. This is much better than some of the other level 1 books which mix in longer and non phonetic words too. It is not pretending to be a story either. Those baby stories for first readers are a bit poor for a four year olds interest! Definitely buy. Will hopefully find some more like this.

Phonics made easy!
I have finally found a simple book of phonics which is perfect for my Italian Reception children who are learning English as a second language! It has simple pictures which make sense, interesting questions and the sounds and words use follow a logical sense of order. What a shame the book isn't bigger. A4 size would be perfect!

Clever little learning book
I am absolutely thrilled with this book. My little girl is 4 and very interested in learning to read and write. We bought this book and it was super helpful! The pages focus on 1 word in bold at the top - ie. dog. They then have the phrases below such as 'bad dog' 'wet dog'The words are repeated on additional pages, ie. "man and dog" so that your little one begins to recognise by sight these common words. We gave it to her preschool and they too loved it and found it very helpful.

Great little book for early readers
Fast delivery. The book was in extremely good condition- just like new- even though it was 'used'.s. It's small (ladybird size) but is a hardback. Nice illustrations and very simple sentences with easy to read phonics. Great little book to help new readers who are beginning to read their first words and sentences.
