When it comes to shaving my legs I am the most hopeless person in the world. It consists of balancing on one leg, with the other in the air, all whilst trying to hold my balance and shave my legs at the same time. Even though I love our amazing walk in shower I must admit I do miss the bath. Razors are one of the most boring beauty product, well thats what I originally thought. Since trying to reduce my plastic usage I have been on the hunt for that perfect razor. The one that is stylish, good weight, reusable and not that expensive! Normally I would go through a razor once a month, this was to make sure that the blade was sharp as blunt blades irritated my skin. This added up to 12 a year! This was too wasteful and stupidly expensive. It was clear that if I could find the perfect product I would save money and reduce the amount of waste deposited into the environment. On my hunt for the perfect razor I came across a razor company called Big Foot Shaves. If i'm honest the name did draw me in as my curiosity took over. The double edge safety razor looked like the product for me and came in a choice of silver and gold. Upon receiving my packaged I was surprised as to how great this product looked. It came in a lovely cardboard box with a beautiful illustration. Inside the box was a holder for the razor and 5 blades. I was so excited to use this razor. It was of a heavy weight, good grip, elegant and just seemed perfect in every way. With the excitement and not reading the clear instructions I managed to cut myself when inserting the blade. (Please don't be as dim as me and read the instructions!) Using the razor was easy, although I had to go slower than normal. I got a clean shave that lasted allot longer, I also noticed that my skin was not as irritated or dry which was a shock as it was only a single, double sided blade. Cleaning after use was made very simple as the razor dissembled and could be rinsed. Despite still having to balance I did't cut myself once! I was left with beautiful smooth legs that didn't resemble a Yeti as all. Replacement blades for this product are cheap and causes less waste for the environment. In comparison to my previous razor it is clear that there are some major differences. The size has got to be the most obvious, despite this I actually found it allot easier to use. The weight made a big difference in how I held the razor which also had an impact on the type of shave I experienced. Overall I am extremely happy with this product, I feel that it is good value for money and perfect for what I need it for. The company merchandises it's razors towards gentlemen as this is the main market for their product however, I do feel there is room to grow in creating a few designs for women. This could be achieved through a rose gold razor and feminine packaging. The concept for this brand is brilliant and one that I will be keeping an eye on.

A beautifully weighted razor that gives a very nice shave. Easy to use and to exchange blades. The supplied storage case is compact and practical. My first safety razor but not my last.

Love this razor. I was a little nervous at first, having never shaved with a DE safety razor, so I proceeded with caution. First shave was slow and careful, second shave was a bit faster and a little less cautious. I feel pretty comfortable now that I'm not going to nick myself... I do have a couple of small moles on my face, and the blade doesn't nick them... so happy about that.Love that the single blade doesn't get clogged with hair.UPDATE: I knocked this razor kit down by 1 star, due to the quality of razors that are supplied with it. The quality of the actual razor is phenomenal, and I wouldn't recommend another razor handle to anyone. However, after having used up all the blades that came in this kit and having now bought other replacement blades on Amazon (basing my purchase decision purely on high reviews), I will say the razors in the kit are just 'ok'. The new razors I bought are like shaving with butter, I can't feel a thing, and the razor glides over my face... whereas these razors (after 1-2 uses) tend to tugging and pull a bit, and don't make for the ultimate comfort in shaving.

This is my first safety razor I have ever owned. To be honest I chose this one for the decent reviews, good price and beautiful gold aesthetic. As a woman I need a razor that can handle differing terrain of the body and with a bit of practice I have now mastered shaving in the shower with just water like I did before with disposable razor. I have always grudgingly shaved the bikini area because of the terrible ingrown hairs it would produce but after two shaves with this I have not found a single angry welt. I love that this is a low waste product and that it works better than disposable options. I am giving four stars only because it definitely has a learning curve. Keep up the good work!

I am a woman and wanted to make this change for a long time. I’m now getting the absolute best shave of my life. Including my bikini area. It’s almost impossible to cut yourself and yes it takes me a little bit longer to shave but we are talking maybe a minute or two more. The only thing I was bummed about was I received 4 razors blades and I was expecting ten. I highly recommend this razor. I love that it isn’t a butterfly open, those seem to open in my hand as I shave and this one stays in place. Also it’s beautiful and so easy to clean unlike an expensive razor that gets all gooped up with hair and soap from its own head. Buy this. You won’t regret it.

I bought this for my man for his birthday, he has expressed interest in straight shaving, but has never done it before. I spent 5 days on amazon looking at razors trying to figure out the best on to buy for a beginner. I even watched hours of youtube videos on shaving. Finally after careful research I decided to buy him a safety razor, lol that meant more research and video watching. I learned about rusting, the best blades, shaving angle, soap and more, at this point I am a pro..First let me start by saying that this can be a pricey investment to start, but you will save money in the end not having to buy disposables. Because I'm on a budget I had to buy a cheaper razor, I read all reviews on this bigfoot razor the positives and the negatives.When this razor came I took it out the box and it was beautiful, it was shinny and had a nice weight. I couldn't wait to see him shave with it for the first time. The first time finally came and of course because I watched all the videos I did all the shaving. Saturdays are now shave days, he says he feels like he is at the barber.The pros:1. He no longer gets hair bumps2. Its a beautiful razor that came with a box w/mirror and razors3. I get to spend quality time with him on Saturdays4. The razor has not yet shown any signs of rust, I'm sure thats because I researched proper care of your razorThe Cons:I am now the barber!!!

My first shave with this was anyting but great. But Chuck from BigFoot Shaves was very concerned and helpful; he had me order a $9.95 razor assortment and suggested a sharper blade ... Gillette was his "middle of the pack" sharp blade and Voila ! Vastly better. The major value was Chucks willing assistance over several e-mails. The  Double Edge Razor Blade Sample Pack (2x each)  allows you to find a blade that suits your beard and face... turned a bad deal into a very good one! Apparently the blades BigFoot ships with the blade are mild as they just don't know who might buy it... I heartily recommend that you give these folks a try... the razor is reasonably priced and with a little guidance it works very well indeed. My last safety razor was a butterfly style Gillette decades ago. I have a tendency to use a tool to the point of failure, so the mechanism was wearing out and the blades were over-dull before I switched to the then new multi-edge designs. They have certain advantages, especially for someone in a hurry -- and who's not? However, my Scotch attitude with these really invites razor burn, so I thought to take another look at the state of the art in DE razors.This model has no moving parts, so the threads of the attaching screw are the only part subject to wear. An online suggestion to slip an o-ring over that to safely improve the handle attachment seems to be doing the job. And there's just enough texture in the somewhat abbreviated handle to keep the razor from flying out of my slippery hand when shaking it dry. But the best part of this design seems to be a very good balance between safety and effectiveness which is quite palpable. The top cap flexes the blade across it's width enough to hold it rigidly straight. I would be very surprised if the degree of flex and consequent rigidity in the steel is matched in a razor of butterfly type. The comb and cap are shaped and sized well to give a consistent nick-free shave. Having two moles -- one above the jawline and one below -- I'm finding that pressure and angle compensation are all that's needed to avoid bloodshed. If you can learn to write with a ballpoint pen, you can shave with this razor.The star missing from a top rating now will come only after a review update sometime in the future.Update: Keeping my rating at 4 stars, because I've recently also used a razor with a handle having a much better textured grip. Hadn't realized just how slippery the feel on this one is until comparing the two -- although the other razor is significantly heavier, it feels less likely to go AWOL from my hand. Confidence is a big deal when it concerns your degree of control over a sharp object in proximity to the face!

This is my first safety razor. Despite that, I can attest that this little beast is a solid performer and quite an eye-catcher. The weight and solidity feel good in the hand. I didn't notice much of a slippery issue like other reviewers had, but I suppose those with larger hands could have trouble.Keep in mind that this isn't the butterfly style that opens up from the top. You actually have to take it apart to get to the blade, which is pretty fun in my opinion; as analog as you can get without it being a straight razor!I wasn't a fan of the blades that were included so I'll be on the lookout for something a bit sharper. I haven't had any issues with nicks or cuts but it does take a little longer to get the extremely smooth shave you're looking for.Bigfoot Shaves is a small shop which is why I decided to support them over some bigger players. You won't be disappointed with this razor if you're just starting out.

This is my first DE type razor and it's pretty ok.Overall, I am happy with the purchase so far. As others have said the "gold" is more of a coppery gold color but it's pretty. Its got a decent weight. the blades change quickly. It feels like a well made piece.I don't know else what to say about this razor or what sets it apart from any other its price range.There are a lot of good reasons to buy this style razor. choosing the blades that you use is a pretty nice feature. also being able to change blades in just a few seconds is another. affordability is something that I consider. I have a moderate amount wrapped up in my *straight razor kit* with the stones and all that. if you don't mind the maintaining of the blade it makes for a nice shave. until you are in the middle of a shave and drop it, shattering the blade. this razor gives a similar shave feel without all the extra. Ill probably get another straight razor, but to get the same shave for far less hassle you can't beat this razor.When my razor broke I needed to get cheap disposables again and they are horrid.Why would anyone buy plastic razors over the span of their life when a real razor is cheaper and better?

I was a little reluctant to buy this product at first since I couldn't believe that a product this cheap could be good? I've grown up using Gillette and have always thought they were overpriced and get worn down pretty quickly. I've also gotten into the habit of shaving my limbs to stay clean and prevent pimples due to some ingrown hairs. As a guy reaching my mid 20s I was glad to see that a lot of women had left reviews for this product since I can trust they use razors in more ways than average American men (my wife was actually going to suggest getting this razor after I finished my last cartridge of Gillette razors but I couldn't wait). VERY clean shave and just don't be stubborn about how you put on the razors. It's honestly nothing crazy. Just follow the instructions! Will buy my replacement razors from you guys again when the time comes!

I bought this for my husband as a Christmas gift after hearing him complain for months about how he has yet to find a razor that allows him to evenly trim his beard line. The reviews and the price are what sold me on this razor and it ended up getting exactly the reaction I was hoping for...This was his first time using a safety razor and the first words out of his mouth were "This is the BEST razor I've EVER used!" He was pretty excited. I got pretty excited with seeing how clean and neatly shaven he was after he finished. Usually he misses a few hairs on his neck... Not this time! I could not be more pleased with this item. Chuck from Bigfoot Shaves sent me an email with helpful tips and video links on DE shaving. Shipping was fast and packaging was good: the razor was exactly what I was looking for too. I use a Westcoast Shave razor with a Merkur 34c head on it. I love the Merkur head but I wanted something with a little less angle and a smaller closed comb. The Bigfoot Shaves razor came through in spades. Bigfoot Shaves head was exactly what I was looking for and it fit my West Coast Shaves handle perfectly. The Bigfoot handle is nice too, it has a good weight and great length so I ordered a second one for my gym bag.

I bought this for travel because of the shape of the head (flat) it was a surprise the quality of the shave I got. I got a BBS without any against the grain strokes! it was very maneuverable and gave me a great shave in sensitive areas. There was very little touch up and no razor burn. I did use a Parker blade instead of the mild blades that came with it. The two piece head has slip notches that keep the blade in place. Both pieces are very light and thin. Not sure what they are made of but this is a travel razor.

I really wanted to like and use this product, but at the end of the day, it wasn't for me. I was looking to save money and get into one blade shaving, as I shave my face and scalp. I used this a few times before I decided I didn't like the constant battle wounds. Overall, the design was great and it felt nice in the hand. The blades were thin but sharp. The handle was a little short for me. I just could not get it to work for me, even with quality lather, due to my sensitive skin.

I have super sensitive skin, so I read online it might help reduce irritation if I shave my legs with a single blade. So I got this brand, even though it says for gentlemen on it. It took some getting used to and I nicked my legs like 27 times the first time I tried to use it, but now I find it no less time consuming or difficult then using a traditional 3-5 blade razor. Packing is nice and its a solid product. I know it is advertised for men, but women can definitely use it too, and the blades are so much cheaper than the typical refills for other brands and their 3-5 blade razors. Saves money overall which is awesome, just have to get used to the single blade. Also since it is only one razor passing over as opposed to 3-5, my skin is much less irritated, which is awesome.

I love this razor even better than their butterfly version. It gives a close shaving with little or no irritation. However, there is an issue that prevents it from getting 5 starts and that is the edge of the razor is exposed and while not as sharp as the cutting edge, it can still cut be careful when changing cutting edges. Also a tip for those just beginning safety razor shaving, do yourself a favor and invest in a pre-shave oil/cream and a variety pack of razors to get the best one for you. The razors blades that are including mild and did a great job (for reference, I have very course hair).
