does this model have a backlight to see at night?

Hi Crame. The LaCrosse atomic projection alarm model 616-146 that you purchased DOES have a backlight in the form of lighted multicolored digits, just like you can see in the photo. If you use only the batteries for power, the backlight is only available for a few seconds when you push the snooze bar on top of the clock (as is the projected image). However, by using the supplied power supply, both the backlight and the projected image stay on all the time. With the colored digits aglow, the clock information can be clearly seen both day and night from 15-20 feet or more.

The daylight savings standard changed Monday August 8, 2005. Is the auto DST feature updated to the new standard?

The actual time (based on a real atomic clock) is transmitted from a US government radio station located in Colorado. So when Daylight Saving Time begins or ends, the LaCrosse 616-146 reflects the change as it automatically receives the radio signal.

How long is the alternating time between time and temp??

The projected time and temperature alternate every 4 seconds. However, the time and both temperatures (indoor and outdoor) are static on the actual clock face display.
