Enlightening and inspirational
This book looks at the key goddesses of the Indian parthenon in great detail, giving through and engaging descriptions, sharing their stories, and providing mantras and guided meditations relating to each. It is well-written and accessible, and the tone of the book is extremely positive and empowering, with an emphasis on the power of the feminine in both myth and culture. It is practical as well as spiritual, with the suggested exercises easy to follow and highly enjoyable. A great read for anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of yogic spirituality, as well as awakening their own inner goddess energies.

Beautifully and Thoughtfully Written
This is a beautiful book in many ways. The cover is gorgeous and I really like the bookmark flaps at each end. This has been written with so much love and deep knowledge and is a real celebration of the divine feminine. There is a quality and depth to this work which makes it a truly valuable addition to my bookshelf and very applicable to everyday life. I highly recommend to anyone prepared to dive a little deeper into Hindu Goddess mythology.

Wonderful well considered and well researched book. I’ve read a few boos on Goddesses recently and this has been by far my favourite.

Packed full of info!
Amazing introduction to divine feminine wisdom packed full of info, practical exercises and visualisation. I used the book as a guide to create my own personal awakening retreat and spent several days in solitude learning about Shakti and my own inner superpowers! Highly recommend if you are new to the subject or deepening your personal connection with the goddess.

a book for life
This is one of the best books I've read in my entire life. And it's a book that will last for life, because after reading it you can start the practices.Several meditations are offered here and each practice will suit you in a particular moment of your life.I'm fascinated by Indian Gods and Goddesses, but this book is something more: it shows you a way to work with yourself (your thoughts, emotions, relationships) through the goddesses. And it is NOT only for women.I recommend the accompanying CD, too.(Personally, I wouldn't recommend the kindle edition, this is one of those books I prefer to read on paper)

Perfect!
People are often motivated to write reviews because something is wrong, and so I didn‘t write a review about "Awakening Shakti: The Transformative Power of the Goddesses of Yoga" by Sally Kempton until now because there just isn‘t any reason to complain about it. The book is a valuable source of knowledge for readers interested in Hinduism, taking a somewhat unusual approach by focusing on its goddesses, who often may be less known or misunderstood by readers from cultures where god is primarily understood as male. The book skillfully blends factual information about the nature and the history of the goddesses (which seems to be accurate, although I could only judge the chapter about Radha) with personal experiences and meditations, thus encouraging the readers to focus on what the goddesses mean to them personally. Moreover, the book portrays the goddesses in artful line drawings, making this book a perfect guide to help you explore the feminine side of the divine.
