SUPERB STEPHEN KING TRIPLE BILL
I am a huge STEPHEN KING fan , at first I only bought this boxset for one movie alone, the fabulous 80s horror classic CAT'S EYE , for anyone who has not seen CAT'S EYE ,then its quite like movies such as CREEPSHOW and TRICK R TREAT , meaning it tells three seperate tales of horror , but the main story/ theme is about a stray cat desperately trying to find and protect a little girl , who is getting her breath stolen from her by an evil troll like creature , its terrific , I love itThe other two movies were just a bonus to begin with , but found SILVER BULLET to be an an excellent kinda guess who the werewolf is story ,it stars the late COREY HAIM and GARY BUSEY ,really liked it , the werewolf fx are a bit dodgy in places , but it's still great funHave not watched MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE yet ,gonna watch it soon , but I know it is directed by the great man himself / STEPHEN KING ,and it stars EMILIO ESTEVEZ , who i really liked in the YOUNG GUNS moviesI thought that this box set was excellent value for money , CAT'S EYE itself is now a deleted UK region 2 dvd these days , and it can be pretty expensive to get a hold off , so apart from anything else ,this box set made great financial senseA MUST SEE MOVIE TRIPLE BILL FOR ALL STEPHEN KING FANS - AND A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY DVD COLLECTION TO BOOT

Maximum Overdrive
I bought this set just for 'Maximum Overdrive' and havent actually watched the other two films yet. I really enjoyed 'Max O' which I had originally on a VHS tape. Its a perfect trash movie, made in that way that quite a few of Stephen King's stories have appeared. Not very big budget, some good actors, some bad. Even King himself gets a cameo- 'Honey, get over here. This machine just called me an A*****E!'Its a quirky idea with machines on a deadly mission to murder. Try it, I think you'll like it-just stay away from the electric carving knife!!

The Stephen Zone
A neat collection for Stephen King fans. None of these films are masterpieces, and one, Maximum Overdrive, was a famous disaster (King hasn't directed before or since), but they're all entertaining and scripted by the author himself. As a straight suspense film the best, in my opinion, is Cat's Eye, which unlike the others rarely dips into camp, aside from a silly dream sequence and a distinctly unthreatening troll. It's an anthology film containing three stories, the first two based on ones collected in King's book Night Shift, and the third an original. They're linked by the adventures of a cat seeking a young girl (Drew Barrymore) who communicates telepathically with it. Cat's Eye plays on our fundamental fears in sometimes powerful ways. The second film, Silver Bullet, is based on Cycle of the Werewolf, the only King novel I've read which I didn't care for. It's about a town which thinks that it has a serial killer in its midst, when actually the locals are being killed by a werewolf. The film improves on its source material (a rather slapdash collaboration with a comic book artist) by having a self-parodic tone. A lot of the film is staged and timed like a comedy, especially one scene with some unfortunate vigilantes. Gary Busey gives a surprisingly sweet performance as an alcoholic-but-kind uncle, and there's a great scene where a church full of people turn into werewolves. The third film, Maximum Overdrive, is a lot more enjoyable than many critics claim. Based on the Night Shift story "Trucks", it's about a group of people trapped in a gas station when Earth's machines suddenly go beserk. Like Silver Bullet it's much more comic than its source, which in Overdrive's case was actually better, though it's still an entertaining action thriller. It even has an early performance from Yeardley Smith, who went on to play Lisa in The Simpsons. The discs in this box are bare of features like deleted scenes or commentary, but they have scene indexes and Overdrive and Bullet come with their respective trailers. Overdrive's is worth-watching as King shows up to promote the film in a delightfully Hitchcockian way which makes it seem scarier than it is. You could even argue that the trailer's a better horror film than the film itself. What's interesting about King as a screenwriter and director is that he can't resist the urge to kid his own material. On paper his stories are frightening and intense, but when made to adapt them he throws in countless camp touches. Lines like "are you going to make lemonade in your pants?" and "you can't do this! We made you!" abound. Maybe at this point in his career he wasn't confident enough as a filmmaker to go all the way with his original visions. Either way, these three films are still worth getting. If nothing else they'll amuse you.

Stephen King Collection
I absolutely love this DVD collection. Silver Bullet is the best Werewolf film I have seen to date and I have seen many including the latest remake The Wolfman. Cats Eye is a modern classic a brilliant film and I love the quirkiness of Maximum Overdrive another great film. There are no extras to speak of save preview trailers nor are there any subtitles, however I enjoyed these films so much I just don't care

80s horror fan
3 decent stephen king films :). Good quality and decent price, as I found it was cheaper to buy all 3 in this box set than just the one that I wanted (silver bullet) so it was a bonus having the two other films :)would recommend this to any stephen king fan or 80s horror fan :)

STEPHEN KING
I THOUGHT THAT EVERY ONE OF THESE THREE FILMS WAS BRILLIANT TO WATCH: FROM TRUCKS AND OTHER MACHINERY COMING TO LIFE, SCARING ALL THE PEOPLE AT THE GARAGE TO QUITE A GOOD WEREWOLF STORY, AND THREE GOOD STORIES IN CAT'S EYE, WELL WORTH WATCHING.

Good old Stephen King
I've said in previous reviews that I think that film versions of Stephen King's books can be a bit hit and miss. I think that these three fall somewhere in the middle. A great nights viewing at a very reasonable price.

Wer 80er Horrorfilme mag
