It's a Cracker!
As a 'toy' safe this is actually a lot better than expected. It arrives well-packed in its own box with an internal plastic bag to prevent dents and scratches in transit. The combination mechanism only requires 2 or 3 turns to open but the action feels like the real thing, the base also has 4 rubber feet so that your safe won't scratch anything it's placed on, and it holds a lot more than it looks like it can. I poured in 250 £1 coins and it's still less than 1/4 full so I'm looking forward to being able to fill it completely, a long process because on my income I'll be adding to it as often as a swear box in a Convent.I was previously using a ceramic Tea jar to keep my coins in but this is just way more fun and for less than a tenner I can't complain. I would imagine that this would be a great gift for anyone over the age of 6 because it doesn't look like a traditional piggy bank. I'm 48 and pleased as punch with it but wish I'd had one when I was little, it would have encouraged me to save much earlier. On the flip side, it's not as secure as the shoe boxes they keep your money in at a real bank. The combination lock can be defeated by a thief simply picking up the safe, putting it in a Tesco carrier bag and walking away. The slot in the top is a bit superfluous unless you've not told your child the combination and are annoyingly putting money into the safe in front of their noses and telling them they can have it later on. Hopefully your child can work out that the safe is made from rather thin metal and that a well-placed screwdriver can jimmy the door off. Filling the safe with water and using a thermal lance to initiate an internal explosion also works, as well as the usual 'fire a high explosive round from a Challenger 2 tank directly at the door' method.Overall it's a great way to start saving without having to worry about AERs, ISAs, Premium Bonds, offshore accounts, Compound Interest formulae, exchange rates, sub prime mortgages, hedge funds and price fixing, which all come later. As a first step I can't recommend it highly enough. As a coin storage I'd recommend it even more highly. In fact if I were Prime Minister I'd bring in laws to make these mandatory.

Novel idea for money box
Bought this to stop my sons 'borrowing' each other's money from money boxes. Previously had the padlock style but they were flimsy and easy to get in to. This is ideal due to the combination and is very sturdyThe combination lock does occasionally become hard to spin (especially if you have warm hands!) but other than that there's not much to go wrong.

Really good money box
My son was delighted with this. The lock has a 2-part combination and it works every time. The slot at the top fits all coins. The safe looks good, just like the photo, and I think it's good value for money. The description says black or red and there was no choice when ordering, so I guessed it was random - I was hoping for a black one - and got it in black! Result. The red one looks ok too though, so either way would have been fine.

Nice idea with an insecure lock
The idea is great and it looks secure however the lock is very easy to hack. If you start turning the knob and pull the door a bit it will eventually open. Of course it's not a real safe but it would be nice if it had a better lock.

Good gift
This is a nice chunky little item and is far better made than you might guess. The combination lock is actually quite precise, so no risk of youngsters getting bored when they figure out anyone can open it, because they genuinely can't.My 9 year old nephew loves it, so it was money well spent.

this was ok for a few weeks, but after using it for a few weeks it opened on one digit, so I would turn it to number 1 and it would open, I only had to put one digit in for it to open

Great little safe
This is a good sturdy little metal safe - bought for a 6 year old - who requested it - he picked up the opening system quite quickly but it is not too easy to be pointless and works well. Very impressed with this. Code on bottom so that you cannot forget it.
