Great product, can't fault it at all.
I have an old, but good quality, oil stone (from my Grandfather) that had been misused over the years and needed some TLC. After reading several forum posts about reviving one, I found out it is best to boil them with baking soda for 20 minutes first (did it sneekily when I had the house to myself in an old camping pan!** :) and then use some of this stuff to revive them fully to working order.I have to say it works great. The stone is like new again and really helps keep my chisel and carving knife set in tip top condition. It took about 10 minutes to get a sharp edge on a new (but unhoned) Faithfull chisel. I did have to apply a couple of extra capfuls to keep the surface wet, but now it just takes one capful and about a minute to get a nice sharp edge. (note: the photo shows a big black lid, but underneath there is a small (penny-size) cap to unscrew, which is what I mean by capfuls! ... I think newer (diamond stones) are probably quicker, but I'd prefer to keep this one in the family! :)I've not tried any alternatives, but in my experience this stuff is very good.** If you need to do this, make sure you put a couple of small rags on the bottom to protect the stone from the heat of the metal. Bring to a boil and then simmer (just before the point of bubbling madly) for 20 minutes.

Good product and easy to use.
Works. Makes a big difference on sharpening stones, in fact I'd say it's a necessity if you want great results.Used it on an axe puck and a flat stone for knifes. Cleans old clogged up sandstones as well.
