Colloquial Slovak: The Complete Course for Beginners (Colloquial Series) Audio CD – Audiobook, 6 Oct. 2011

I don't know the Colloquial brand, but seeing as this is the only available Slovak learning book for English speakers, I went ahead and got a second-hand copy. It's clearly a tad dated, but it's not like the language has undergone a revolution in the past 15 years. It plunges you in immediatly, but instant immersion is the best way to progress at any speed. Good book, get a copy if you're wavering about it, but try to either have a native Slovak speaker on hand for the oral exercises, or get a copy of the CDs too.

I think this is The Definitive Textbook for Learning Slovak, and it has many helpful exercises for self learning. The DVD's are also excellent to listen to with cystal clear dialogues. There is one small problem with the DVD's, if you try to upload them onto your iPhone to take them with you to listent to on your commute, etc., then they are untitled, and so they show up as Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, etc. I wish they had actual downloadable names or there was an MP3 version of the book's dialogues. I have had past versions of this book and this one is an improvement along with updates to make it more modern such as dialogues about the internet or sms's. If you want to learn Slovak then this is probably the best book out there. Hopefully future editions will make it even more user friendly but I still think this book is an improvement and very good.

Terrible tool and impossible to learn anything from this. My partner is Slovak and could not believe what he was hearing. They have 5 minute conversations and you're meant to know what they are saying or they just say words in groups of 3 or 4 without breaking them down and moves onto something completely different

the problem with this cd is that the slovak language is spoken very fast and the english spoken slowly.. this defeats the purpose of the cd as it is supposed to be helping to learn the slovak language.. i am very disappointed with it

Only issue is that track 7 did not work on disc one but very very helpful and indepth learning experience when learning slovak which surprised me greatly, would recommend. Only giving 4 stars as issue with that one track, sorry, but other wise great product

Had it for a while and then tried to use - both Cd's are completely blank

I was intending to buy the CD AND book but this is just the CD. It is no good without the accompanying book, so beware.
