Aromatherapy: The Essential Blending Guide Paperback – 30 Jun. 2000

I am an holistic therapist and aromatherapist . I use this book most as a quick reference point to check out the chemical components of an oil. The author uses a colour coded pie chart system to show the breakdown of each essential oil so you can tell at a glance what the highest chemical attribute of the oil is. She also gives a brief explanation of what the oil is good for . There are suggested blends for different health issues e.g. Headaches, digestion , how to make up the blend, how to administer and other suggestions to support the treatment. Because of her clear colour coordinated system it is easy to replace an oil of similar attributes if you are out of stock of the suggested oil. This can either be done by flicking through this book and initially picking out and matching the highest colour wedge of the missing oil with other oils with a similar sized wedge of that colour then deciding if that oil will be a suitable replacement. Or you could use Rosemary's other book that lists each of the oils separately clearly indicating the chemical constituents by colour and percentage. If your visual in your way of working it is a fast and handy way to check things out, then if required you can go on and dig deeper in some of the other reference books off your shelf. For someone just using the oils for home use it is a clear quick defined guide to helping oneself. It is one of the books I'll have in my bag as a ref point while out on a home visit.

This is a must for anyone practicing aromatherapy. There are easy, colour-coded wheels to enable you to gauge how much of each chemical is in your blend. Also gives a description of properties and what the essential oil is used for. I went on to buy the computer programme which does all the calculating for you.

Good reference book. Reputable author, delivered quick.Recommend to all who blend essential oils and want to be certain on chemical constituents.Prevention is better than cure.

This is a useful reference book about aromatherapy blending, it suggests appropriate remedies for commoner ailments and would be helpful for beginners, novices and qualified aromatherapists alike. The caddy profiles are an excellent visual aid to the chemical properties of each blend and there is also a section on carriers which includes advice on how to use the essential oils. I like the book and find it helpful when searching for medicinal blends.

Very useful. Great addition to my reference books. Useful as portable for a quick check.
