Rees Howells: Intercessor

This book really was a revelation to read. Rees Howells journey over his life, showing his commitment and surrender to God's will was mind blowing.

Rees Howells lived a kind of Christianity that one might think extreme and unnecessary, but the rewards are truly unimaginable if we only press on in obedience and seek the leading of the Holy Spirit in every area of our lives. This is an encouraging book in which Rees Howells demonstrated how he fulfilled his call to a spirit-filled life with all the tests, trials and tribulations!!Each chapter of the book tells how he came through from what seems to be the simplest, to the most challenging of tests to gain a higher spiritual promotion in his intercession. As he prayed, fasted, seeked and obeyed... The Holy Spirit gave him strategies, so he knew exactly what and how to pray, when to start and stop the intercessions - through which gained him (and God's kingdom) victory everytime!!A brief record in retrospect of such a Godly man and what God accomplished through him, but a very rich book indeed on how awesome Christianity can and should be.

Inspiring testimony, faith building! I had the opportunity to visit and stay at the bible college many times and knew many of the original staff members. They all lived by faith! This book shows the reality of what is possible...changed lives and changed society... when Christians love God with all their being and others as they love themselves and when they devote themselves to intercessory prayer, expressing the faith and love of God, releasing the grace and mercy of God by being in harmony with his heart and mind.

Over the years I have read this book many times. Each time I read it Father God highlights another area in my life that I need to address. I have bought this book again because once again on loaning it out to another in need, it hasn't found its way back home yet. So I have purchased another one. This book is about a great intercessor and missionary who lived early in the 1900. It is about his journey with the Holy Spirit and his obedience to His prompting. Even when the things he did went against the customs of the time. During the second world war he and his students prayed continually for the outcome. Rees Howells, founded a bible college in Wales that I had the privilege of staying at a couple of years ago. This man's life is an inspiration and a challenge to all who read about him. if you read one other book in your life, read this one.

A friend reommended this book, or might I say prescribed it to me! I haven't finished this book because I am having to go back to parts of it for its depth. From the very first paragraph, I felt like he had written about me. The story is very deep and close to my life story. Well-written and I actually feel like I am in the present day of Rees Howells.

What an inspiring read! Would recommend to anyone who wishes to know just how powerful the prayer life of a Christian can be and how God uses intercession to affect lives. This is a meaty book which is well written, telling the life story of Rees Howells, arguably one of the greatest intercessors. This is a balanced account; the author does not shy away from relating RH’s failures and lessons learnt from them as well as the successes and growth in understanding of the ministry of the Christian intercessor. May you be blessed by this book. Jesus Christ is Lord!

First read this book in the early 70's and I based my early prayer life on the model that Rees Howells displayed. I was also familiar with the places where he lived and worked so that was of some significance to me. it was good to be re-acquainted with the book and to be reminded of some things that had been important to me.

This is a powerful book that every believer should read. After I read this book, everything in this world becomes irrelevant to me.

So inspiring to read the work of the Lord in and through Rees Howells to eradicate our "ego" and let Him be the Lord of every area of our lives, the one aim in life being "the saving of souls".Extracts: "The Holy Spirit said to me: “As the Saviour had a body, so I dwell in the cleansed temple of the believer. I am a Person. I am God, and I am come to ask you to give your body to Me that I may work through it.I need a body for My temple (1 Cor 6: 19), but it must belong to Me without reserve, for 2 persons with different wills can never live in the same body. Will you give Me yours? (Rom 12: 1). But if I come in, I come as God, and you must go out (Col 3: 2-3). I shall not mix Myself with your self.”"Why had He manifested Himself to us in this way ? He made that quite clear.It was because there was a work to be done in the world today that only He could do. John 16: 8“I have come to put you to the cross, so that I may live in your body for the sake of a lost world.”The rest of the book is a brillant testimony to what the Lord has been doing through his life and his community...
