Really good ruler, although it should be for the price. The safety feature works really well and inspires confidence when you're using it. I see this lasting for a long time, especially if it's not mistreated.

This is a very neat, well-designed product. The fold-up finger guard provides excellent protection when cutting, but when the finger guard is folded down again, you have something that can be used as an ordinary ruler for marking out and which is easy to store. Equally important is the non-slip insert in the base, which makes it easy to hold the ruler steady even on glossy surfaces. These two features together make using a craft knife to cut materials much safer. The clever hinge design looks very robust. Before I bought it, I was a bit concerned that because the ruler is aluminium, not steel, the edge might get nicked easily by a craft knife, but having got the product, I think the edge is thick enough to make the chance of damage low, without being so thick that measurement becomes more difficult.

I'm tired of most so called safety rulers designed for guiding cuts. Every one I have seen features marks that catch a knife blade and / or don't offer any real protection for your fingers. This one is vastly different. The edge is smooth and safe to cut against. And the flip up finger guard offers real protection. I feel confident in using this ruler for it's intended purpose. The soft grip on the underside is nice and ensures no slippage. The machining of the parts is impressive and clean. At currently £14.99 each, it might seem expensive for a ruler. But the design and quality of this ruler is certainly worth the cost in my opinion. I am honestly disappointed that I don't need to use it more often.As with any safety device, it is no substitute for safe practices. Use and enjoy with care.

I do really like this ruler. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Seems very sturdy and the finish is pretty good. The cutting edge is excellent, much better than using a standard ruler.My only gripe with this is the price. At the time of purchase I paid £17.99 which I think is way too much. It's a great product for sure, but £13.99 max would be my suggestion. I would have purchased two of these at that price. This price was the only thing preventing me from giving this 5 stars.Also, is there a longer version of this ruler design? I'd be interested in that.

After years of spoiling rulers by slicing them trying to cut through card , I found this piece if kit . Wish I'd seen it earlier, what a godsend . It has made the job so much easier, fingers are safe and it doesn't slide across the card . Love it, should last me for years. Don't hesitate , buy it, well worth the money.

After an incident using a blade with a cheap plastic ruler where the blade got bored of always traveling the same route along the edge of the ruler and decided to take a diversion onto the hitherto unexplored region on top of the ruler and over the tip of my thumb, I decided that it might be a good idea to invest in a more safer way of cutting before I used up the entire local supply of finger bandgages.This ruler is a fantiastic idea - it's the only one that I've seen that is both practical to use (not too long or bulky) and also fully protects fingers and thumbs from the blade (unlike some other cheap cutting rulers which just have a small 'dip' in the middle and are often made from cheap (i.e. soft) aluminium which wouldn't be completly imune from the same accident my thub suffered.It also has mm and inches scale (unlike some cutting rulers which only have one or the other).The anti-slip coating underneath helps to hold the paper/card in place while cutting.The fact that it folds flat and is also supplied with a protective sleeve makes it very useful for me when I travel to art fairs and may need to cut up additional photos behind my stand to replace one's I've sold (it also reduces the possibility of having more first aiders at my stand than customers!).

Being a very clumsy person I was prompted into this purchase after running the scalpel over the top of my finger just beneath the nail bed. Knowing that the chances of my repeating this messy mishap were high and after stemming the bleeding and checking that yes, my fingertip was still attached, I got straight on to ordering a safety ruler. I am pleased to say that it is sturdy and the pop-up guard rail means that my fingertips will remain where they are supposed to be - at the end of my fingers!
