Give it time . . !
Having been a fan of XP for over 15 years I was finding Windows 10 tricky to use. I have found this book by Andy Rathbone to be very useful indeed. One or two things have been difficult to find in the index but with patience I have managed to find the information that I needed. The language is clear and precise with good diagrams. I would recommend this book to anyone having to change/update their computer. Time will tell if I come to like it as much as XP at the moment I'm still getting used to it.

very useful
i make notes in the margins and at the back whenever i try, or discover somewhere else, a fix for problems.google is great, but you have to know what to ask it, and this book may give you the right terminology.

they are fine - very simple and straightforward
I've bought and read a number of the "Dummies" series including at least one by this author and, allowing that they are targetting new users, they are fine - very simple and straightforward. They have a habit of being a little patronising, but I accept that's a small price to pay for a sound basic introduction to the subject. This one, however, is hard going. It really does talk down to you, with very repetitive phrases which quickly become irritating. The content is generally OK, but I would not recommend it on style grounds.

Very informative. Well written and laid out. A delight to dip into for any piece of information you might require to use your Windows 10 efficiently and confidently. Well worth the price.

A handy book a bit wordy at times
I've bought this as a back up preferring to read a book than google a problem. One of those books you hope never to use but having said that I think I will work through it doing a little bit at a time so I can build my knowledge of Windows 10 which have moved up from Vista I find very intuitive. I had a problem the other day where I lost a complete folder of work and I didn't find the restore pages very clear. I also think presentation is wordy in parts for example. In describing attachments rather than just say " It is a file that piggybacks onto an email message" which is sufficient they add before that "Like a pair of movie tickets slipped into the envelope of a thank-you note, an attachment is a file that piggybacks onto an email message" I would prefer the paragraphs were not so wordy. As I use it more and get my skills going I will report back if necessary. A Handy book.

Great reference or teach yourself book for Windows 10
Excellent book, easy to use and follow, also easy to look up things you want to find out via the excellent index. A useful reference to have when using Windows 10. It can also be followed through step by step for those new to this operating system.

As an eighty-two year old dyed in the wool user of ALL the previous incarnations of Windows (bar 8.0) I needed this book. And it has not let me down. An excellent aid to what I find to be a very different Operating System to handle.Very strongly recommended.

This book is well worth the $13 I paid! The instructions are arranged in a clear manner, much better than the old versions of Windows for Dummies (I mean REALLY old, as in before XP). The style of Andy Rathbone keeps me awake and interested. I couldn't navigate my new Dell with Windows 10 OS without this book.
