In a year that otherwise struggled to deliver where comedies were concerned, Knocked Up proved to be a very welcome treasure trove of laughs. Its from Judd Apatow, the man behind The 40 Year Old Virgin and the excellent TV show Freaks and Geeks , and sits easily as an equal to both. Its also a long-awaited showcase for the talents of Seth Rogen, who proves with some conviction that he can headline a movie. The premise of Knocked Up is simple. Seth Rogen and Kathryn Heigl share, for differing reasons, a one-night stand, and several weeks later, the latter discovers shes pregnant. Given that Rogens character has been jobless for years, and that Heigl is trying to build a TV career, the two dont prove to be a logical match, yet as the pregnancy progresses, they try valiantly to get to know one another. The narrative itself is quite straightforward, but its the execution and characters that lift it significantly. Apatow knows how to direct comedy, and with a script peppered with plenty of guffaw-out-loud moments and situations, he wrings very hearty laughs from the material. Plus, while its Rogen and Heigl who power the film, the supporting cast is simply superb, particularly the collection of people that Rogens character surrounds himself with. Its perhaps guilty of running ten minutes too long, and theres little to surprise in the story itself, yet Knocked Up is nonetheless a terrific, earthy and grounded comedy, with so much to enjoy. Its hard to single out individual moments, and instead it simply seems more appropriate to declare Knocked Up as one of the best, and most rewatchable, comedies of the last few years. Dont miss it.-- Simon Brew Judd Apatow writes and directs this amiable comedy in which slacker Ben (Seth Rogen) and up-and-coming career girl Alison (Katherine Heigl) meet at a bar and end up having a one night stand. Eight weeks later, Ben is shocked when Alison asks to meet up with him and reveals that she is pregnant. Despite having little in common, the two decide that they have to at least try to make some kind of relationship work for the baby's sake. Review: Very good - Very good Review: very very funny well worth watching - I am feel sorry for people who do not find this funny. I thought that its was hysterical and i see a lot of my life and families in this film. i found it very endering that alisons character wanted a relationship with her childs father surely this should be a guide to how families are created and stick together. Alright the language was very strong but it made the film more amusing. I would recommend anyone who like 40 year old virgin and the firsst american pie film go and see this film after all my dad who does'nt like romantic films loved this.

"Once You're Hungover You Gotta Puke, thats the secret.."
A mistake that can happen to any couple so to speak, but a great mistake at that. There's a whole array of mainstream Hollywood comedians from this time in the film and they help carry what is really a pretty mundane idea. Bloke meets girl in a nightclub, has a one night stand with her, gets her pregnant and after both their shock decide to keep the baby. There are no twists or turns in this film and it could even perhaps be considered a romantic comedy. (Although the jury is still out!) The lead chap's lifestyle could not be any more different to Alison's, (the lead lady). He is a pot smoking waster in short and she is a determined young television presenter working for E Entertainment. The constant bickering between Alison's sister and husband, (who have two children) show how testing married and family life is. There is a funny scene where it transposes that Alison's sister's husband is playing fantasy baseball, when she thought he was having an affair. There's not any thought provoking stuff and it does seem its full 2hrs 5 mins. It would have been better suited to 1hr 40 mins. Its also one of those films where the viewer is left wondering just what happens once the baby is born. Ie Everything leads up to the culmination of the birth and nothing is shown after, (a lot of films run like that which is disappointing). Still there's laughs a plenty and its perhaps a movie that should be watched with a partner with a sense of humour!

Funny nearly gross romantic comedy.
Judd Apatow's very funny comedy about pregnancy and responsibility. Crazy good for nothing Seth Rogan gets the lovely Katherine Heigl pregnant during a drunken one-night stand. Then decided he wants to be a part of her and the baby's life and tries hard to be responsible. Ably assisted by his nerdy friends and her married sister. Close to the knuckle jokes and a credible relationship between the leads make for a very entertaining but never cheesy rom-com.

Awesome Film.
Seen this film years ago and remembered it was good. After purchasing it and watching it again I can confirm tha it is infact a really good film. The combination of Rogens effortless quality and Apatows renowned talent works a wonder as expected. The rest of the cast do a good job too, and the story is more involving and hertwarming than I remember, but just as hilarious.

Funny!
This was recommended to me by a friend and I would recommend it myself too. At the time my friend was an expectant father and so I think this was especially funny for him as he could relate to some of the humour in it. Well worth buying and will be one that you watch more than just the once :)
