Ok, so mind you that I have this filter in a 10 gallon aquarium so it's like extra super powered for such a small space.I may have ordered this filter over 3mo ago but I am just finally getting time to set up and install it. It is about time since I've been looking at it every day all day when I'm home because it was sitting right on my desk, LOL, I did that on purpose thinking it would drive me to get it done if I constantly had it staring at me screaming how it was such a rush to order and receive it but yet I'm just now setting it up, I guess it worked slowly but surely, only took a lil less than 4 months, LOL!!!So I finished the installation about no more than two hours ago and what I thought was a massive algae bloom making my water almost black, was actually just shit from the massive amount of moss I had in there and a lot of it had died off and was like just dust floating in the aquarium, my tank is clearer than it was the day I set it up now! I can not believe the difference, and the intake didn't even clog up with the bigger pieces of moss like my previous filter this one is replacing.So I bought the Fluval line of canister filter products including the upgraded version of their filter media, the black & white carbon and I also purchased a super filter replacement for the pre-filter sponges in the filter, this stuff has multiple layers to it. I have used this combo in two of my other canister filters and it works great!I can't wait to see that stuff combined with the power and efficiency of this filter. It is also super quiet once it gets all the air bubbles out of it.BEWARE!!!Make sure you do not put an air stone near the intake, you will hear gurgling constantly, I learned that the hard way and it took me a few weeks to figure out my other filter wasn't broken at all, LOL. You also want to make sure that the water hoses don't kink because when they ship it they fold the hose in sections not roll it, so it has like a pre-creased fold in the hose so it's a lot easier to kink it, I used a splint on one spot because when I first set it up I was so upset, I was like this thing sux, it has no pressure to it but as soon as I put the splint on it, it was like amazing! It also has a throttle lever to control the water intake and flow rate! The biggest selling point fore me was the fact that it was red, I knew nothing about the brand or anything but am so glad I rolled the dice! In my opinion I'm gonna say look no further, you found the filter you have been looking for! The only improvement I can think of that would put this filter over the top was if it was smart so I could monitor the filter life, shut the filter off if nesisary, controll the water flow digitally, and maybe the option to add a UV Bulb to it? You could fit one in this filter but it would be a tight fit and I'm not sure you would be able to latch it shut with the power cord for the bulb hanging out of it, it's a very tight and secure fit!I expected more room for the media guts but didn't really take into the account that this is a much smaller filter than my others and it's kinda short n stubby I guess so it doesn't seem like it holds as much but I'm pretty sure it does without having not measured it before.I highly highly highly recommend this filter, I am super impressed! I will update if I have any problems or anything but if you don't see any complaints about it from me updated later then you know I am still absolutely in love with it!Good luck in your search, and make sure you make a informed, educational and confident decision on your aquarium filter purchase. I usually do do a bunch of research and comparisons online before I make my decision, but 5his time I took a chance and I really hit the jackpot I have to say! This worked great when I first got it. 4 months later, it doesn't work at all. I clean my turtle tank every other week along with the filter. So it wasn't bc I didn't clean or take care of it, just a BAD product. I'd recommend going w a name brand Fluvial filter if I were you!!!
