RYA VHF Handbook: The RYA'S Complete Guide to SRC

If you are taking the VHF SRC (Short Range Certificate) course then look no further. Tim Bartlett has done a magnificent job with this book as a learning aid. I took my SRC recently and with the aid of this book I absolutely flew through it. Very, very clear and simple step by step instructions on how to use the VHF radio for normal as well as emergency communications. Extremely graphically illustrated with colorful animated characters conversing on the radio to and fro. Covers the use of all necessary electronic rescue equipment. Fantastic publication, highly recommend.

I have just taken the RYA VHF course and used this book as pre-reading. The book contains more information than was covered in the course but helped in my overall understanding. If you just want to pass the course then you dont necessarily need to buy this handbook- if you want to have a reference for later, then this book is useful.

This is just what you need to prepare for the SRC exam. Well written and concise it is easy to read and covers the syllabus comprehensively. Just a pity that it doesn't include a couple of mock exam papers, or at least specimen questions at the end of each section, which would allow one to check ones progress.

It’s a RYA product, do you really think it won’t be perfect

This book will tell you all you need to know about using a VHF radio on a boat, but... DO NOT BUY if you are planning to do the RYA SRC VHF course - you will get a copy as part of the course materials.

This book is very clear, with nice examples that cover all possible situations on the water, the graphics are well done and it's printed on high quality glossy paper. It has helped me pass the licence exam, good to have for quick reference too.

It is a good RYA handbook with good content - however, be aware the text print is really small. Buy the eBook instead
