Just What I Was Looking For!
EDIT 11/2020: I finally had to replace a candle that the cats knocked out of the window and broke. All the rest are going strong 4 years later. I love these candles!EDIT: These candles are going on 2 months of nightly use now (April through May) and so far, I've only had to replace the batteries in one candle! Awesome!I scoured the Internet for window candles for weeks before deciding upon these, and I am SO glad that I did. I wanted battery-operated ones because I wanted candles in all of my windows, even the many that aren't close to an outlet. And extension cords are ugly. Second, I wanted either a timer function or a sensor because turning on/off 15 candles every day is too much work for me. I also wanted something that didn't look too hideous... I've purchased enough of those disappointingly orange LED candles in the past. So, these candles were the only ones I could find that met all my wishes. I'm super happy with the light sensor on these because I felt like the timers on other candles weren't long enough (some timers only turn on for 4 hours?!). Face the sensor towards the windowpane and you're done. Sit back and enjoy as your candles turn themselves on at dusk and off at dawn. Nothing beats how easy that is.The light these candles emit is also a nice, soft white. Although a few of the bulbs were more yellowish than others, it's not as easy to notice from a distance and when they're spread all about the house. Some other reviews also stated they were not bright enough. These candles provide enough light for me to see where I'm walking in the dark, and are also visible from my street that does not have street lights, so I'm satisfied. The bases are plastic, but they look decent enough and were more sturdy after adding the batteries. I have small windowsills that are only just big enough to sit these on, so I attached some Velcro to the bases to prevent my cat from knocking them down. They also came with windowsill clips, but I didn't bother messing with those.I was worried after reading reviews that I'd get a defective candle or two, but all 15 are working perfectly at the moment! I am very happy with these window candles. I would recommend them for anyone who is lazy like me, but also enjoys the look of a warm, welcoming home to greet them after work each night.

Great alternative to boring candles from big box stores.
These candles arrived quickly and were packaged well. I hate the old fashioned plastic, off-white candles that my mother has had for 30+ years and are still for sale at big box stores. I remember my mother applied layers of packing tape to keep the candles on the window sill year after year. My husband and I bought the same candles the first year we were married because they were the only kind we could find. Ours seemed to stay on the window sill better than my mother's as long as nothing touched them. My dogs seemed to still bring them to the ground several times a cay. I'd end up finding singe marks on my carpet. The only alternative I've seen in a store were white candles with a brass base. Which look good but eat AAA batteries like they are candy. I found these and love the look. Even though they are plastic you cannot tell unless you are up close. The color of the light is white. I like the flicker setting, it looks very realistic from outside the house. You can see the candle glow from far away, even down the street. I've read some reviews saying theirs have lasted for 3 years. I really hope they do. It takes two C batteries. I hope the batteries last the whole season. I'll try to remember to update our review at the end of the season. My only complaint is the piece that attaches to the candle base to hold it on the window ledge does not stay secured to the candle base well but its not absolutely necessary for the candle to function; you could easily do without it.

Works great like the old Thomas and Betts Lights
According to Amazon I bought a bunch of these under the Thomas and Betts brand name back in 2013, but then never used them. Got them out this year, set them up and liked them enough I wanted to order more, but no T and B brand. Found these and they are exactly the same. To get a more realistic yellow light, I took 30 seconds to color each bulb with a yellow magic marker and — POOF! — worked like a charm. These lights aren’t as bright as my old incandescent bulb candles, but they are fabulous b/c they turn off and on at dawn and dusk and don’t have those old, pesky electric cords to get in the way. The C batteries in the base give them a heft that keeps them in place. If you place the lights such that the switch is facing you, they will stay on even when you have lights on in the house EXCEPT maybe if you have an overhead light on near the candle. Of the new candles I bought this year, the switch for choosing flickering light (fake looking) from stationary light doesn’t work, so it flickers. So one star off for that. If available, I’ll probably buy a few more next year.

Overall very good. Great that it comes on at dusk and off and dawn automatically. The color is also good - white, not orange. It doesn't replace plug in lights, though, since it isn't as bright. Purchase it if you want a soft glow, not a brilliant shine.

OK for an auto on & off night light even though not very bright
I like the realistic looking flicker, It is not very bright but if placed right it could be OK for using as a night light, It would look OK in a window it might make neighbors think your place is on fire or is going to be lol ,,, Why someone made this for "C" size batteries is beyond me, 2 or 3 AA or AAA would have been a hell of a lot better, as it is now I have made my own modified battery holders that hold 1 AA & 1 AAA that run the 2 that I have, in my personal opinion being designed to take 2 "C" battery's was a design made by a idiot,,,,

inconsistent quality
I found these to be a very cool, cold white light, not at all warm. But unlike some other people here, I found them quite bright. My biggest concern is that one of the two I bought, has a loose battery compartment (best way I can describe this) so once I put the batteries in the light was on, until I turn the unit right side up, and the batteries slip and the light goes out! I am trying to figure out a way to correct this issue, perhaps a bit of tape to hold the batteries in place. Also, the light is a bit dimmer in this one (even the plastic bulb appears a bit darker) as opposed to the other one which is noticeably brighter. So I would say the quality is inconsistent, as the other candle's batteries sit tight in the compartment so there are no issues there with slipping and the light going out. I don't really feel I got my money's worth here, and felt I should share this issue with others.

Doesn't turn off.
I have wanted one of these for a while. Disappointed that the off switch doesn't work. So I take out the batteries every night. I don't really want them to stay on all night long. Will end up recycling.
