Music Theory (3 books in 1)
I purchased this 3 books in 1 after searching for something clear to explain music Theory. Not only do you get the book, but also downloadable audio descriptions of each chapter as you work through. The audio is perfectly clear, well spoken, and i feel delivered in an enthusiastic manner. Just like havng your teacher right there with you.The Book is clearly and cleverly laid out with appropriate diagrams, including a, test yourself section at the end of each chapter.I personally love this book and find the learning method interesting and fun when you arrive at a light bulb moment. The book clearly shows the excellent knowledge of the author, James Shipway. Not only does he have the knowledge, but a true ( No Bull ) approach to his teaching methods.I recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn guitar theory.. You won't be disappointed!!!

Guitar theory
I’ve recently started to play again after over 10 years away. Self taught first position chords and E/A shape bar chords. Then I got stuck! This book is amazing, it’s put together so many bits of the puzzle, it’s simple to understand and written in a way not to overwhelm and confuse. I’ve read the first part of the book and at the start of the second part it says learn the fretboard so that’s where I am now. Highly recommended this book, don’t hesitate get it, your playing and understanding of how the guitar works will improve hugely!

A perfect intro for people like me!
This collection of books is unbelievably easy to follow and understand. Big letters, big drawings, byte-sized chapters. I've finished it doing one or two pages every night before going to sleep. And I was able to get full marks on the chapter's quiz the next night. The downside of my approach is that you obviously can't practice in bed, but I know many people whose only moment of quiet comes right before bedtime. I wouldn't have been able to read this at any other time in the day, as my children are with me even when I practice and rehearse. On the less positive side, I think the quality of the print is a bit of a letdown. It's "printed by Amazon" on what looks like standard A4 paper? not sure how long this will last; also makes it look cheap. This is likely not the author's fault, as I have other "printed by Amazon" books and they all look the same. This is an excellent introduction. After reading it, I got the impression that the author genuinely wants to makes sure you learn from this book.

Amazing Book!!!
Took up electric 6 string guitar after a 50 year lay off. My wife bought me this book and I couldn't believe how simple and informative this book is. Had music and guitar lessons from around 11 years old but wanted to play in a band so theory took a back seat to playing. James' book has helped me understand the theory so quickly and easily and with the free audio tracks. My enjoyment from playing has so much increased . Superb!!!!!

Easy Theory
Well written and easy to understand. With lots of explanatory diagrams and details. Although I haven’t yet completed all the books. I find them to be a great resource into what can sometimes be considered too complicated to study. These certainly help to simplify and explain in detail all the guitarist needs to gain a full understanding of Theory. Without a lot of the confusion that usually surrounds the subject.

Music theory without the mystique.
I bought Music Theory for Guitarists, Volumes 1, 2 & 3 by James Shipway in a single paperback book. The book is easy to read and the prose clear and concise. I like the regular “Now Test Yourself” sections. I return to these sections periodically even though I have progressed through the book to ensure I have retained the theory knowledge. The concepts James describes, has remove the mystique of music theory for me. I am now composing my own music and writing my own songs as a direct result of reading James’ “No Bull” books. I recommend James Shipway’s books to any guitarist who wants to broaden their understanding of music theory.

Theory made easy.
What a buy this has been. Thoughtfully put together, this book has been a revelation for me. The number of, as someone else said, lightbulb moments which I have had working through the three parts of the book has been astonishing. It is easy to follow, is step by step and builds incrementally to more advanced topics. Following the book will add to players’ knowledge of how to make their playing sound more musical and why it works.Wish I had found this 40 years ago, and I think a must have for anyone who wants to be more confident as they develop their playing.
