I bought several trains this year to decide on a gift for my little nephew, and this was the one we kept. Others had very delicate rails. Plus, this has a remote too, and it worked; able to operate the train to go backwards too, as well as make sounds. The little one loved it!

This was much bigger than I thought it would be. It goes around whole Christmas tree. Has steam and sounds like Polar Express 🥰.

The train set is great for display but not so much as a toy. We got the medium-sized set. The train and tracks are a good size (not small but not huge, the whole thing fit on a 6 ft by 4 ft table). The steam is also a cool and unique feature. The set comes with everything you need to set it up except the batteries. However, the train cars, their connectors, and the remote control are not made with strong plastic. On our set, one of the connectors broke when the car fell to the ground and the remote works intermittently. It seems the batteries get loose if you move it around too much. So, it’s a good buy if you want a relatively inexpensive but attractive and good-sized train set to display. If you expect kids will be playing with the train or it’s controller, you might want to consider a sturdier set.

Cons: the tracks are thin plastic and while we haven’t broken any sections, I can see it easily cracking. There are no extra sections with the set either.The cars don’t really lock together, they just have a loop and post. So if you wanted to lift the train you have to do it piece by piece or it comes apart.The remote is a bit confusing with 3 different arrows.The track is oval and doesn’t really fit around my Christmas tree base in a way that looks right, and is too big to display on a bookcase or table.Pros: wow the detail is great! Sound effects are accurate (and loud - it startled me when I first turned it on!).The lights are pretty bright for the size.The bars on the sides of the wheels (not sure what the name is) actually move as the train moves.Variety or styles of cars included.The steam is an unneeded but completely welcome addition to the nice feature of this train set! It has a little squirt bottle to fill up tank too so it’s basically no mess.The remote is reactive and has a good range.Batteries seem to last a long time with typical alkaline disposable batteries.

This train set is so much fun! The assembly took maybe 5-10 minutes. The tracks snap and unsnap easily. The set requires 6AA batteries - 2 for the remote and 4 for the locomotive to pull the train. The set is very lightweight, so it's either for Christmas decor or to play with adult supervision. The set also contains a small bottle to put water in the locomotive as well as a small Phillips screwdriver. It makes train noises, puts out a good amount of steam and has flickering front lights. My girls loved playing with it. The track is long, so it won't fit on any regular table unless it's really long. The remote works well. Putting it away was as easy as putting it together. Fun family time!
