THIS PIT IS ON FIRE!!!!
To the people that claim that fires only smolder in this pit, please learn how to build a fire. This is a substantial fire pit. The build is fantastic, the materials are top notch and THANKFULLY it's NOT stainless steel (no discoloring)!!! As we live near Chicago, I will be putting mine in the shed covered when not in use so it will last for years to come. I chose this unit as an alternative to the WAY over-hyped and over priced Solo Stove and it has not disappointed. The assembly took about 30 seconds, literally. Three screws into three holes and assembly was done. As you can see in my pics, I placed this unit right into my old fire pit I built. I wanted this unit as it, as are Solo's, is minimal smoke. Note that I said minimal smoke. When you burn almost anything, you are going to have smoke so to those people that are delusional and believe the phrase smokeless, it's not. The smoke is SIGNIFICANTLY less with these units though. You can see the actual re-burn process through the holes near the inside top of the unit. For those that are on the fence as I was about this unit - BUY ONE! You will not regret it.

Nice but worried about durability
Great depth, easy to put together, sturdy, grill are great. But after 36hr I've noticed melting of inner grate. Ill change rating if things continue to go downhill.

Awesome little fire pit!
We had been looking for a fire pit for a while to enjoy our backyard on cooler summer nights. My husband found this one and I have to say, it’s been pretty awesome! The fires start easily and get super hot. It’s not 100% smokeless but it’s far better than others we’ve had. My only complaint is the rod that comes with it so you can move the wood around as it’s burning is a bit short so you can burn your hand pretty easily if you have a decent sized fire going. We’ve been able to improvise with sticks we have piled up, which is a pretty easy fix.

“Single” stove
Like the solo without high price. Not stainless so not sure how long it will hold up but keep it out of the rain and im sure it will last a long time. Not really a fan of the way stainless looks once it is exposed to heat anyway (turns blue and purple). Im sure you can touch this up with black bbq grill paint to freshen it up if color fades. So far so good. 5 stars from me. The small ammount of smoke you do get is propelled straight up from the heat not like the old burn barell or fire pit in the ground where you play the “smoke chasing” game where you are always moving around. Yes, when you first start fire it will blow around like any other fire before heat builds up. Some people just dont understand how fire works. Fire starts fast with minimal effort. The heat doesnt heat low so you will get cold legs but i feel like that is not a problem for me. But the people who complain about that will also probably complain about everything. Wear pants or go inside. I paid $80 for it when i bought so im sure price may vary a bit but if youre looking for a solo type fire pit this is definitely the one!

Why spend hundreds more?
This fireplace is great, works like the pictures. Cleaning is easy. It burns wood so well, it is like a furnace! All for less than a $100. Even if it burns out in year it is still worth it. I have had a dozen hot 8 hour fires and it shows no signs of wear. Could not be happier.

Good firepit for the price
I wanted a firepit that I could also cook on, and it needed to be light enough to take camping. This pit meets those needs. It's reasonably sturdy, although the metal is a little thinner than I would like. But for the price that's what you get. I like the arrangement of the cooking grates, much better than just a grill that sets over the pit. Assembly was straightforward, except that the fit could be better. I had to force the foot rest into place. I have read multiple reviews on multiple pits that complain about rust. Before assembly I sprayed on high temp paint, and after assembly I touched up the areas that got scratched. I did the same thing on my old pit, another low price pit, and I got it to last a dozen years or so. Plus, every 2-3 years I would clean it well, spray it with rust-b-gone, and put a new coat of high temp paint.Update, January 2023: It finally got cold enough to use the firepit (Houston, TX). For the most part, it worked well. However, the next day when I emptied it, I found that the grate for the logs had collapsed from the heat. Obviously, that's very cheap metal. It's something I can probably find a replacement for, but I'm disappointed in the lack of a quality material.

Awesome
The media could not be loaded. Barely any smoke, just when getting it started. I live in a row home with a little patio. Its a nicely contained flame and burns awesome. Good size too.

Great, but lacking
This fire pit is great and could be amazing with 3 updates:1. A more rigid grate. The grate collapsed on first use with only about 5 splits of wood on it. The steel just isn't strong enough2. I had to drill a hole in the center bottom or it won't drain rainwater, meaning the water will mix with ash, form a high pH slurry, and eat through the paint and metal.3. The cover that comes with it does not work with the cooking grates in place.Although not mentioned in the instructions, i also coated all sides of the grates and firebowl with PAM cooking spray prior to the first two uses. This helps prevent rust and preserves the paint for longer.
