An impresive bit of kit
At about 18 stone, 6'5" and getting on in years now, I was looking for a bike that would still allow me to get some exercise, and the Salisbury is just that. I work about 5 miles from home and can cycle through the local park and redways for most of the route. There are a few hills to go up and down, but nothing too difficult, and with the Salisbury power behind me, I can get up them quite easily now. After 5 miles carrying both my bodyweight and a pannier full of work goodies, it still has enough power to pull me by throttle alone. Once I get to work, I usually recharge the battery to be on the safe side, but having said that, the indicator lights say there is still plenty of power left, so it would probably get me home and beyond without a charge. All in all I have found it to be a very impressive bit of kit, highly recommended.

Powabyke Salisbury
Just bought this and did an 18 mile very hilly journey, up to 1500 ft before charge was used up. Very steep hills you have to push, but on normal to sloping terrain it is brilliant. Very comfortable bike, and I've put an additional gel cover on. Never ridden an e-bike before, and found when you pedal they just want to go! Very impressed with the quality and the appearance. I don't think you miss out on exercise as you tend to cycle more. I'm 53 years old with arthritis and would say it is an excellent form of exercise and travel for me. Have found that if I do say 12 miles in fairly hilly country, you can't rely on the same charge for your trip out the next day. You need to top up with a fresh charge as you will get no more than 3-4 miles more. It's no fun trying to pedal up slopes with no juice left. I often turn off the battery on the flat or when I'm going downhill, and that saves the power.Nov 2013. There is a known issue with the bottom bracket, which is 251 millimetres long in order that the pedals clear the battery box. This is unusually long, and problems can occur with wobbly pedalling which will wear the thread in an uneven manner. I have just replaced mine after 2800 miles, but you can only obtain one from the suppliers or regional agents. I would consider that riding the bike without power on the flat is mainly responsible. On reflection, I consider you should only pedal this way if you have no power left, or not at all. The bike is heavy, and I fear is not suitable to be used as a normal bike. Otherwise, I am still very pleased.

A COMPETENT BIKE WITH GOOD SERVICE FROM POWACYCLE
I purchased one of these bikes recently. It was second hand but unused as the gentleman that originally purchased it passed away without getting the opportunity to ride it. I purchasd the bike without Keys as they had been lost. However, a quick call to Powacycle quickly sorted that for £35. The service was friendly and helpful. The keys and two lock barrels arrived the next day with full instructions on fitting the new locks to both the battery and battery caddy. Also supplied was an opperating manual for the bike that I had not requested. This was much appreciated as none came with the cycle, and showed me one or two things that I had not worked out for myself. As for the Bike itself, I was a little unsure that it would be suitable for me as I am 17 1/2 stone in weight and the motor is smaller than most electric bikes on the market at only 200W. However, I need not have worried as it is everything I'd hoped for. I can't compare it with a 250 watt model as I've never ridden one but so far the bike has more than suited my needs. There are a number of fairly steep hills near me and it has coped wtith them with ease. It won't take me up them without help from me but it has made them a breeze whereas before I would have to dismount half way up and walk. On the level, 15mph is achieved easily with pedal assist at which point the motor will only help you maintain that speed. If you want to pedal the bike to a higher speed the motor seems to hold you back unless you switch it off. This I understand is a legal requirement for Pedelecs in the UK. It will coast faster than 15mph if you are heading downhill. In throttle only mode the motor takes me along at 12-13mph on the level with no wind and up a gentle gradient at 8-10mph.Overall I'm very happy with the bike. The only addition I have made to the bike is a longer reach quill stem as I needed a little more height on the handlebars. I'm 5'10" with short legs and a long torsoHope this helps someone

So brilliant I had to leave a review
I have now been the proud owner of a Salisbury Power cycle for 4 months. I originally wanted a Kalkoff which I was going to get using the cycle to work scheme but whilst waiting for work to set up the scheme I found that Makro's were selling the Salisbury for £299 plus vat!!! Too good a bargin to not take. I ride my bike to work every day it's a pleasure to ride, hills are no trouble at all some of my route is off road it handles rough ground with no trouble. A great way to get a bit of excercise, I've paid for the bike twice over now from what I've saved in petrol costs. The only thing I'd like would be more gears as you can quite quickly get up to 6th gear. The power assist stops at just before I get to 15 mph which is when I feel more gears would be good. Quaulity is good although the Kalkoff bike is of better quality I think the Salisbury is much better value for money. A great bike one of the best purchases I've ever made!!
