I like the product because it is easy to use and store.

This seems to be an effective ant killer. We often get plagued by the little blighters in the summer. I've used sprays and powders before to reasonable effect. This one does the job equally as well. Apart from anything else, one advantage of this one is that the powder is a grey/green colour so when you put it ant nests in lawns it blends in with the grass unlike some of the white powder versions which look unsightly.

Most effective when used directly in the nest, doesn't effect grass etc...

My back garden seems to have turned into some sort of Ant Farm, I am actually worried that one day I will fall into some underground cave full of Ants because they have undermined the structure of my lawn. Most times I am a live and let live type of person, but the problem is pretty intense by now and I want children to be able to play without fear of little bites. The 'Defenders Natural Ant Control' is a product that actually worked on my back garden. I had several ant hills that popped up and I treated each one. Yes, the ants moved slightly, but after a second treatment and a couple of weeks there is a noticeable fall in the number of ants crawling around my garden.The fact that this is reportedly natural is great, but anything that works is good for me. The strange grey/brown powder inside works wonders, but it is the packaging that lets it down. Something as simple as putting a quality top on the bottle would have made this product a must. Instead you have to try and shake the slightly clumpy powder through a clumsy top that falls off should you shake a little too hard. You end up with some of the powder on your hands and shoes - not the best thing when you are dealing with Ant Killer. However, despite this faux par with the nozzle, the 'Defenders Ant Control' is something that has worked really well in my garden and that is the most important aspect for me.

Firstly, I can't understand why the container for this is so big when it's only half full, perhaps they got a good price on a job lot, but whatever the reason the large size doesn't make it any easier to apply the contents. As for the product itself, well, we haven't actually been bothered by ants in the garden this year - maybe it's been too wet - but some have set up home in the compost bin,so I sprinkled this liberally over the top of the compost and took a look a few days later. There didn't seem to be much difference so I sprinkled more on, a lot more, but again there doesn't seem to be any lessening of ant activity. I've checked the compost bin again after a week and ant activity does seems to have decreased, although it hasn't completely eradicated them, so it does seem to work eventually as long as you use plenty of it. We've always used a well known competitor which is very efficient, the ants don't just eat it they take it back down to the nest, is safe with children and pets (this isn't) and which is about half the price of this brand. I can't see any reason for us to change.

A great treatment - I had a large ants nest under my lawn with many entry holes....although the product says it is best to break open the nest (this was not possible) I just poured it into the entry holes and around....after 3 treatments 3 days apart all of the ants have gone!!very easy to use!

Every year I have an infestation of ants in my drive and patio. It does not last long and is usually suppressed with some store bought ant powder, but I was interested to try this to see whether it worked better.You actually receive a very large bottle, but it is only about half full of powder – so is not quite as impressive as it first appears. The top of the bottle opens on both sides, so you can shake the powder out through a large opening or through holes (a little like a larger version of a dried herb bottle).One of the difficulties of reviewing this is that it suggests you need to ensure the ants nest is broken open before treatment on lawns. I have not the slightest idea where the nest actually is and – considering I get ants at the front and back of the house – it could be anywhere. Still, I scattered this where the ants were and it did seem to deter them. Had I found the nest, it might have eradicated them, but, as it is, I have no doubt they will all appear next year.Overall, this works as well as other ant powders I have used. The bottle seems a little large for the amount of powder included, but it was easy to use and seemed effective.
