Silverline 675048 Expert Wood Chisel 13 mm

I needed a good but affordable chisel for a minor, but important carpentry job. And this Silverline 13mm ( millimetre ) wide chisel did the job !It came with a well made good protective plastic chisel 'surround' of sorts, that also acts as a 'hanger' for hanging the chisel in your tool space/shed/cupboard. I have had this chisel for over a year now. In between vigorously hammering it into large logs to split them and proper usage to shave some wood off it has never faltered. Sharpened it a couple of times and it holds its edge well. The blade is narrow enough for some fine work on chiselling out lock holes and the like.

This seems sharp enough for my needs which are chiselling out a rebate for hinges on a folding screen. However, there was some dried glue or varnish on the cutting edge which I needed to remove with a solvent-based cleaner before using, as it wouldn't have cut cleanly otherwise. The handle was slightly grubby also and while this doesn't affect the functionality, the chisel had clearly been used before and repackaged as 'new', because the plastic loop holding the blade in place was unbroken, yet there was still the residue on the tip which was shielded under the plastic covering. I didn't send it back with a complaint because I needed to use it straight away and the seller had already taken four days before dispatching it, but under normal circumstances I would have done.

Good cheap chisel. Solid enough and sharpens well. Avoid dampness or it will rust

Excelente, lo compré para cortar el marco de una puerta y hace bien su función, viene bastante afilado y se guarda en el mismo embalaje que trae. El mango posibilita martillazos pues es de metal recubierto con muy buen acabado.

Scalpello di altissimo livello come tutte le attrezzature della Silverline... consigliatissimo a tutti
