Delightful and thorough
Not many books on Geoffrey Bawa out there. This one does a great job of documenting his life and the two projects it focuses on through their evolution. I may be biased, being from the sub-continent and able to relate to the spaces very easily. Also completely in love with mossy tropical gardens, this book takes me to very happy place flipping through it. Go back in time, eliminate all urban noise, radios, TVs, computers etc. add the slow rhythmic chirps and crackles of nature on cool summer afternoon in the shade... you're in heaven! This book can take you down some colonial history too. Not sure how I feel about that but certainly the lives lived by the privileged back then were nothing short of amazing. Today's world can not produce such a style, contextual to its time, environment, abundance and wealth.

Excellent quality! Good to 'visit' old haunts in Ceylon and to read about people I know. Also family connections. Bravo

Nostalgia
A beautiful and romantic book. The two brothers are legendary in their design, because they truely express their passion. The mature garden is awe inspiring.

Down memory lane. I will visit again
Beautiful pictures of a great place to visit over and over again. Also, a great narrative of the whole family who had connections with people I didnt know about. So, the rumours are true......

Not useful for understanding design.
Never expect an architectural analysis or drawings. Its just photo documentation and the story of two gardens. Only 2 site plans are there. Otherwise its nice tour through two gardens.

Sehr empfehlenswert!
