Welcome to the fascinating world of macro photography, where spectacular images are within the grasp of every photographer. It isnt necessary to invest in kit worth thousands to start taking impressive close-up images, nor do you need to travel far and wide to find interesting subjects. Ross Hoddinott has completely revised, and also expanded upon, his hugely successful Digital Macro Photography book published by GMC Publications, under Photographers' Institute Press, in 2007. This book takes you on an incredible journey into the macro world where you can see insects that look like aliens, the hidden symmetries of plants or the normally invisible workings of a machine blown-up to huge proportions. Technical terms, the basic techniques and how to get the best from your camera are all explained in a direct and easy-to-follow way. Choosing your subjects, lighting them and post-camera processing are all covered in the same accessible way, accompanied by stunning example shots and invaluable tips. Review: Excellent book for beginner or intermediate macro photographers. - I have read Ross Hoddinott's previous version of this book and it is interesting to see the improvements he has added to this newer version. Ross has improved his own photography and this is clear by the wide range of stunning close up photographs from insects to feathers and some interesting projects with household objects. My favourite parts of the book are making insect photography accessible to all with good advice on time to photograph and how to get those elusive dragonfly shots. There is an interesting section on using water droplets to create refraction effects with some lovely examples Ross has explained clearly so all could follow his lead. An excellent book for beginner and intermediate macro photographers. Review: Great Macro Book - I bought this book as I wanted to learn how to take macro photos. Have read from cover to cover and thoroughly enjoyed this book, lots of hints and tips and easy to understand as a beginner to macro photography.

Another great publication
Heaps more useful information for the macro addict in the Revised Edition, even if you own the original publication. As usual, Ross explains things very clearly, and the inclusion of the camera settings for each image is always very helpful. Would highly recommend for beginner or experienced alike.

By far the worst ebook I have ever bought
The text is unreadable since it is not formatted for digital use but rather appears to be a simple scanning of the paper version. If you zoom in to better see the text you soon get tired at looking at the poor resolution used. Finally, neither the index nor any other part is hyperlinked. If it had been possible I would have given it 0 stars.
