Excellent customer service!
I ordered this in March, for our little girl turning 8 in April We didn't get a chance to set up up until weeks later, after her birthday, so the opportunity to return it to Amazon had passed. After only a few test runs, it quit working properly, and would turn on but not engage. After sending a message to SmartGurlz, and getting a message back from them that asked me to email, but email was hidden by Amazon (I'm sure for security reasons) I went to their website and called them directly. Determining that we must have received a defective unit, they immediately offered to send us a new one and asked us to send ours back because it's very unusual to have this happen. We received the new one yesterday and sent ours back today. The new one works perfectly and we have a happy little girl again.

Fav Xmas toy!
I love this toy! I made the mistake of just buying a grocery store 9v though. I thought the battery was just crap luck because within 15 mins of play there was a low battery warning for the siggy. Do yourself a favor and buy some rechargeable batteries if you’re going to buy this or you’ll be spending a lot of money on batteries. I took a star away for the battery problem but other than that the little doll and scooter are so cool and my 6 y/o loves learning the coding part of the toy! I enjoy it myself honestly, it’s a rewarding feeling when you get the coding puzzle right and the girl drives the pattern you create!

Not for 5yo, love the idea, needs better execution
First one I ordered had issues with set up and wouldn’t turn on. I bought this for my 5 year old niece for her birthday. While it does say that the minimum age is 5... I would not recommend it for someone that young unless you have a wide open space that they can play with it. She kept steering it into things which caused it to fall over and the process of setting it back up was quite tedious. Within the app you have to set the doll up by turning it on, holding it upright on a flat surface, and then pressing the doll in the app once it appears. After that a green check mark comes up but it would take a while to turn on and actually balance. I would have to go back and forth between turning it off and resyncing the doll. I do however love the stem idea behind it as I’m a software engineer and it encourages girls to code. I’ll definitely buy another one for my slightly older niece, but I definitely think the process of syncing and turning on to balance needs to be redesigned. After while I just gave up on setting it back up for her every time she knocked it over and it shut off.

poor design
Purchased for my niece - dad is a programmer so the hope was this would make a fun gift the two could setup together. was told the design is very "lousy' - not worth the cost. Better off purchasing a regular doll on a bike.

Complicated
They toy is amazing and what it does is very cool, but I had the hardest time trying to connect to my iPhones. Most time it would not connect at all! Overall it was good intentions but it ended up being a bust!

Great product. I've been teaching afterschool & homeschool STEM classes for a while. And I always see some young girls shy away from STEM activities (such as robotics & coding) because they think those activities are for boys. SmartGurlz robots definitely appeal to girls and they are good platforms to teach coding. I just wish they had a version for boys. I recommend SmartGurlz robots!
