Totally love these films, both from start to finish.I don't understand the poor ratings these films get when you see them in viewing schedules. It seems like they are being picked on because they are from a game franchise. (As if gaming is somehow a negative thing.) I don't know though.I love the mysticism of them both. The planetary alignment imagery in the first film, was beautiful. For me, both films were full of gems. Angelina Jolie did great job, and her supporting casts made top-notch performances. (Like her tech dude, her suited butler, and Gerard Butler and the east Asian cast in the second film.)I loved the model solar system at the end of the first film. People seemed to think that was weird, and too far fetched. Not me, I could not get enough. Then that triangle made of non-earth metal, and time manipulation. Anon, anon, I could go on, but both films were gems to me.

Caught both of these movies one time or another on any given channel. Not really a computer game player, my first and only attempt at Tomb Raider and I couldn't get out of the pavilion!For me both movies are purely escapism and that's why I enjoyed them so much.Whilst Lara is feisty and brave, she is also sensitive and loyal.If I had one tenth of the gumption of the character I would indeed be a very happy lady.Pure fun and enjoyable story lines, proud to be the owner of the set.

This is a review for the PAL UK DVD set (not the Blu-ray). This is a cheap twin DVD standard resolution set of two excellent adventure movies. OK, I loved the first movie and was familiar with Tomb Raider games. I didn't really worry about the loose plot and stately home scenes, after all the movie was a recreation of a young adults PC game and not an adaptation of Shakespeare, and it had to stay firmly with its roots. I wasn't quite sure about the casting of Christopher Barrie as Laura Croft's butler (as he's a bit young to have known Laura's dad, Lord Richard Croft, that well), but in fact he's an asset in both movies. Although many disliked the original Tomb Raider movie and it did not fare well critically, Tomb Raider [2001] was a commercial success, and it held the world record for the highest grossing movie of it's type (game inspired) until that was taken by Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time in 2010. Personally I was bowled over by the TombRaider sequel 'The Cradle of Life' [2003] and I was surprised it was badly received in some quarters - in fact this sets worth a fiver just to see Angelina Jolie in that wet suit one more time (when I first saw the movie with my kids I joked 'your mother looked like that when she was younger'). The Cradle of life is fast paced with some incredible action sequences, and although the final scenes perhaps fall a little flat, the path to them is certainly worth viewing more than once.This DVD set has quite a few extras: TombRaider: 'Digging into Tomb raider [cast/production team interviews], Crafting Laura Croft [fitness training for Angelina Jolie], Stunts and Visual Effects of TombRaider, Are you Game [looking at the PC game that inspired the film], Simon West's commentary, 4 deleted scenes, Alternative title sequence, U2 music video 'Elevation', plus DVD features 'TombRaider time-line, TR Chronicles game demo, and 'web site and online access experience'. Rated 12 and 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, run time 96 minutes.The second DVD 'TombRaider 2: The Cradle of life' has similar extras: Commentary by director John de Bont, deleted scenes [with John De Bon commentary], Training, vehicles, weapons, stunts and effects documentary, The Davey brother 'heart goes faster' music video, original theatrical web site archive. Our DVD is English and Czech audio Dolby 5.1, with English HOH subtitles and English, Arabic, Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian and Swedish subtitles. Rated 12 and 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, run time 113 minutes. Both DVDs are Pal[2]UK region locked. Picture quality and sound is fine on a standard TV - for hi-def there's always the expensive  Tomb Raider/Cradle Of Life  Blu-ray double set.

i likr that i get the film by post becuse i cant get it in the store i DK,I DONT LIKE THEAT WHEN THE INFORMATION ON THE BACK ONLY COUNT THE FIRST FILM I FOUND OUT THAT THERE ONLY IS DANSIH SUBTITLES ON THE FIRST FILM AND NOT ON THE SECOND FILM ,I MEAN THAT THER HAVE TO BE FILM INFORMATION ON BOTH FILM..per pedersen Denmark

I really like tomb raider and the cradle of life films they are both so fab and worth watching

An action-packed two movie collection with Angelina Jolie in the lead role as Lara.See her outwit the baddies in both films in a race to complete the quests.Superb Entertainment.

Not a bad film have seen better it was cheap at the time of purchase .Not as good as the game, now that is very good andworth buying great entertainment

I saw the "original" and loved it! Hoped for the same with this. The change of lead actress/father actor took it down a notch for me. Storyline I thought was better in the 1st film.Still, two good action flicks in one package! Original lead actress has a great deal of potential! Love her wit and rebellion! Deeper insight into the high $ "cults" Croft is fighting against and more Hx of Croft Corporations would carry storyline farther, give the viewer a better sense of "Why?"... "Moles" ( original movie) & "Adversaries".Disappointed with the "sexist" shower scene that has absolutely NO relevance to the movie what so ever...tossed into the script for the pathetic pleasure of men I suppose.Bring back the original actress, lose the irrelevant sexism and you have sequel blockbusters!

It's a nice product and I am a big fan of Lara croft

I film di Tomb Raider interpretati dalla grande Angelina Jolie sono purtroppo due esempi di come spesso il cinema prenda sotto gamba la trasposizione dei videogiochi, ottenendo così dei risultati qualche volta non all'altezza del prodotto originale. Pur non essendo comunque dei pessimi film, questi adattamenti cinematografici non corrispondono pienamente all'esperienza di gioco offerta dal grande brand Tomb Raider.Attenzione: entrambi i film sono in Inglese e l'audio in Italiano manca.

Wobei der 1.Teil mehr Erfolg hatte als der zweite.Es ist nicht das erste Mal, dass eine Frau die führende Rolle in einem Action Film übernimmt, aber diese Entwicklung wird hier vorgesetzt.Der Film, sowie Angelina Jolie wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet. Allerdings erhielt er auch Kritik.So wurde z.B. bemängelt, dass die Figur der Lara Croft auf enge Shorts und große Brüste beschränkt wurde, die ihre Probleme nur mit Waffen löst, anstatt etwas Spielraum für Figurenentfaltung zu lassen.Hier ist natürlich zu bedenken, worauf der Film basiert. Nämlich auf der erfolgreichen Videospielreihe.Entsprechend bin ich mit der Umsetzung der Hauptfigur zufrieden, da sie sich am Spiel orientiert.Zweifelsohne mag das, hinsichtlich der Schauwerte, auf ein männliches Publikum zugeschnitten sein. Dies trifft aber für das Gros der Action- und Abenteuerfilme zu. Trotzdem wird eine starke Heldin präsentiert, die sich nicht auf die Rolle des schützenswerten Opfers reduzieren lässt.Die Blu-Ray Veröffentlichung im Doppelpack war am 14.1.2010 und gab es (März 2018) bei Amazon im Blitzangebot für 9,- € (kurz darauf sogar für 8,- z.Zt. regulärer Preis 10,-€)Für diesen günstigen Preis war es für mich an der Zeit meine bisherigen Versionen (TR1: 3er DVD Set, TR2: WMV-HD) auf einen zeitgenössischen technischen Stand zu bringen.U.U. war das etwas voreilig. Für dieses Jahr sind in den USA beide Titel auf UHD-BD angekündigt und es ist durchaus wahrscheinlich, dass die VÖs auch ihren Weg nach Deutschland finden.Egal, bei 4,50€/Film auf BD kann man nichts falsch machen.Die sogenannte „Collector’s Edition“ ist allerdings nur eine schnöde Amaray und die Edition bezieht ihren Namen nur aus der Tatsache, dass beide Teile enthalten sind, auf 2 BDs.Allerdings ist sie gestalterisch insofern interessant, dass der Einleger eine bedruckte Rückseite hat, wie man es als Innendruck z.B. von Steel-, bzw. Mediabooks kennt.Außerdem liegt noch ein 4-seitiges Blatt bei, mit Kapitelinfos zu beiden Teilen und ein paar Filmfotos.Die BD-Covergestaltung orientiert sich jeweils am Originalcover.Etwas Bonus Material ist auch enthalten:Making of, Interviews, 3 Musikvideos, Produktionsaufnahmen, etc.(BD 1: 82min,BD2: 66 min)Die Bildqualität ist durchaus in Ordnung für eine BD. Etwas Filmkorn ist, vor allem in dunklen, bzw Himmelszenen zu sehen, was dem Film aber gut steht.Farben und Kontraste sind gut. (auf FHD Schirm getestet)Die Bildqualität von TR2 gefällt mir besser. Die Farben sind kräftiger und die Bilder schärfer.Abgespielt über einen UHD-BD Player und entsprechendem Upscale auf dem UHD-TV sieht das Bild sehr gut aus. Hier fielen mir die Unterschiede nicht mehr auf. Für das Alter ein sehr gutes Bild.Ton: der DTS HDMA 5.1 Ton ist recht basslastig. Die Surround Lautsprecher haben dagegen nicht so viel zu tun. In Action Szenen werden Score und Effekte aber schön auf alle Kanäle verteilt.Die Lautstärke des Center Speaker (Stimmen) ist auch ok. Ich musste an manchen Stellen etwas lauter stellen. Ton des zweiten Teils fand ich ein wenig ausgewogener.Fazit:Für mich als Action- und Abenteuerfilm Fan, der auch gerne starke weibliche Hauptrollen sieht, sind die Filme klasse und immer wieder gern gesehen, wobei ich den ersten Teil dem zweiten vorziehe.Ich will nicht sagen, dass Jan De Bont den Film völlig in den Sand gesetzt hat, wie seinerzeit Speed 2, aber ich finde den Film übertriebener und unglaubwürdiger als den ersten Teil. (Faustschlag auf den Hai). Bei allem (Film)Abenteuer sollte zumindest ein Rest an (möglicher)Glaubwürdigkeit vorhanden sein. Das mag ein schmaler Grat sein, macht für mich aber den Unterschied aus, zwischen einem belanglosen und hirnlosen Klamauk und einem gut unterhaltenden Film. (Gilt für mich generell, nicht nur bei Action/Abenteuer)Empfehlenswert. Vor allem bei dem Preis.
