Want to FAX with the Magic Jack 2014? - DON'T USE A COMPUTER!
Faxing with the Magic Jack Plus 2014 is easy and it works well if the set up is done correctly. But that's the easy part. DON'T PLUG IT INTO A COMPUTER.I stayed up super late the first night trying to figure this out because I had read that you could fax using the Magic Jack Plus 2014. I wanted to make sure I was doing everything right and made the mistake of connecting it to my computer to try and fax. I could make calls but the call quality was horrible. I was thinking that by connecting it to my computer I could see any needed information of change setting easily to allow faxes. THAT WAS A MISTAKE.Sure you want to connect it to your computer to register it and change your phone number to a local one but that's all you'll really do. After you've done that just unplug it and connect the provided Ethernet cord directly to your modem or router. Take the USB cord that comes with the unit and plug it into the provided power adapter plug. That just plugs into the wall to give the Magic Jack Plus 2014 power. The Ethernet cord plugged into the router gives it the network connection to give you a dial tone. Then simply connect the phone line from the Magic Jack Plus 2014 to your fax machine. You don't need a computer! The call quality is good and my faxes get sent through just fine. I bought the Brother FAX-575 for less than $40 even though it says that it doesn't support VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol - it's what the technology that the Magic Jack Plus 2014 us based on). However, by bypassing a computer and plugging it in directly, as I've explained, I'm having no problems faxing.Best of luck!

Fantastic product!
I purchased the MagicJack Plus and in a matter of a minutes I had everything running and my number was transferred in about a week!I'm very pleased with the sound quality and what it does for very little money; I can even use my regular answering machine to answer the calls and I was under the impression that I had to go to my computer to play back my messages. Works just like a regular phone line but without the high price!

Save Your Money...Don't Buy This Jack
I didn't have my landline for around a month and had to wait until I could afford another magicjack. I'm sorry I wasted my money. It took me 4 customer service reps online to finally get the jack set up. The first 3 kept getting me confused and told me things that disconnected me from them. They basically never answered my original question of how to register the device. Plus service with this magicjack is totally terrible - in two words - it sucks. When I call my friends outside of CA, I get the same complaint - that my voice is breaking up. Save your money and don't buy this piece of junk. The service appears to be getting worse and worse. I've had it for around 2 years and I'm very displeased with the quality of service I get when making calls. The only good thing about it, if there can be said anything good of it, is that you only have to pay the bill once a year, but you also have to pay extra to keep your phone number. I'm looking for another phone company, since I don't want to pay the bill for this piece high-priced piece of junk with lousy service.

Great value, but...
We love the Econ,it's of the service, but these things seem to break down too often. My that said, even replacing once a year you still save a ton of $$ year over year. $50 vs $600 for basic hardline service.

Five out of five stars. Great product. Great for the office or home. Easy to setup. Fast delivery and great packaging.
I got this for my dad's new office so he could have a dedicated land line and it works great. Super easy setup no problems at all. Delivery was fast and packaging and product were in superb condition. Would recommend to anyone that needs a land line but doesn't want to pay a fortune for one through their ISP or local phone company.

Almost perfect!
This is how a VOIP service should be! The device itself is well built, and the online plan/features is easy to understand. Now, if only they can provide the caller's name instead of just their phone number, It'll be perfect.

Something Wrong with the 2014 Model.
Something wrong with the 2014 model. I have one of the first Magic Jack Plus models that I purchased 4 or 5 years ago. Never had a problem with that one, runs off my router just fine. This one (2014) would not run off my router at all. I spent several hours on Chat with 4 or 5 different customer service reps and next level reps, and we couldn't get it to work off the router. Changed router, cables and everything else with no luck. Read all the advice about changing router settings and such online, but still no luck. Worked fine when attach to computer, but would not work when attached to router. Finally gave up and found a new, unregistered model (Old Stock pre-2014) on ebay and purchased it. Ran setup on PC and activated it, connect to router and it works like a champ. It also came with a free 1 year worth of service. If you want one to connect to your PC, this one is fine. Just be aware that you may have problems attaching it to a router.
